My heart was broken when Kelly phoned to tell me Niki had passed away. Words cannot express how deeply sorry I was to hear the news.

Niki grew up in Penzance, SK and attended school in Holdfast. Everywhere she went, she left an impression, and an encounter with Niki was not something you would forget. She was known for her gentle disposition and compassionate ways, her presence always leaving behind a little of her light with each encounter. Love and authenticity drove her to make a difference in the lives around her. Always advocating for the underdog, she would not stand for discrimination & was not afraid to stand up for anyone who she thought to be treated unjustly.
Niki was also well known for her artistic abilities. When her mind was set she poured her focus into producing original majestic paintings, offering the world a glimpse into her colourful imagination.
She was passionate about nature and the environment, and had a special connection with animals. She provided an example in living a lifestyle that was sensitive to the well-being of the environment. She lived a minimalist life, choosing to be happy with the things she had and generous in sharing anything she had offer to others who she thought needed it more.
As an adult she fell in love with Nelson, BC where she earned a reputation for her vibrant, loving spirit and artistic talent. This city always beckoned her and eventually became the place she called home. The mountains were where she found the most peace.
Niki dreamed of a world where people were kind to one another and to the environment. In her memory we ask that, in your encounters with anyone struggling, you reserve judgement and kindly offer a hand, as she would have.
Lovingly remembered by her parents, Jim & Kelly Thorson, siblings, Jeremy, Dan (Angela), Jess (Rod), Chris (Sarah), Bryan, and their families, and grandmother, Helen Krozser.
In celebration of her life a gathering will be held at the Penzance Hall on Thursday, July 20 from 2pm to 5pm. That is so very very Sad.. I remember Kelly talking fondly about her to us when she visited Newfoundland, My condolences To Her and her family and Friends..No Parent should have to say goodbye to a child, and no matter how old they are, they will always be a child to a parent...

I am so sorry to hear this. I want you to know how much we care. I've heard you speak of your beloved children many times and have met Jess, who has a sparkling personality like yours. You are definitely in our prayers.
