That is a very good deal Joy! And they announced it about a month after I bought X7 for full price because, at the time X3 wasn't eligible for the upgrade price!!!!

I know Dave! I went to X7 last winter, I had X3 as well so couldn't upgrade. (Bought a legit new X7 for a good price on Ebay, less than $300). Ian - that's an outdated OS! I'm still running my Edge on an ancient laptop with XP, so I should talk!

since iam not in business full time(iam 70)i use X3 that i bought full copy back when it came out. i never did the upgrades every time. i had version 3.0, 4, 5 & 6 wouldnt cut vinyl so never owned them. bought 7 and stayed with it till i got 10. then went to X3. i bought X7 academic version........as all i wanted it for is to play in it. i still use X3 for any sign/cutting work i do. i dont find X7 as easy to use as X3........ dont see anything it does better the X3.........

My only gripe with X3, which I prefer to use, is no alternates/ligatures access in some of the new great Opentype fonts.
I picked up X5 at a good price, and it still runs on WinXP, but Corel X6 is the first to offer to show all ligatures.
X5 is pretty slow to boot up, and not as easy to use as X3 - I must be old and too set in my ways!

Is anyone using X6 on windows 10? My system failed and as I was never that keen on Windows 7 I upgraded to Windows 10, but my Corel X6 has some glitches that I haven't been able to figure out like the roll over on the top menu works but the static one doesn't show.

I've never paid over a hundred for any Corel. I always buy an older version. I figure if it was really great a couple of years ago, it will suit me just fine. I haven't cut any vinyl in three or four years. I might cut a mask or two in a years time. I have x3 on an xp machine and a win 7 laptop. If they both crap out I guess I will be through using Corel or any other software.

Joy..I upgraded to Win 10 as soon as it was available. I like it.
But, I found that some features of Corel X3 wouldn't work with Win 10 so I upgraded to Corel X7.
Currently using Win 10 with Corel X7...No problems at all.
There are minor learning challenges when going from Win 8.1 to Win 10. (Going from Win XP or Win 7 directly to Win 10 might be unsettling to some folks though) And there are minor learning challenges going from Corel X3 to X7. Nothing that this 71 year old brain had a problem with.

What to do, what to do, still undecided which leaves me in a lethargic state thinking about OSs. And, yeah well, Dave, maybe your 71 year brain stays sharper living down there out of the cold! We had our first hard freeze last night. I cc-a-n f-e-e-l my blood slow-ing down!

I found windows 10 to be a little unstable so I went back to Windows 7 for now. I found the home button to be a little unresponsive from time to time and any down town is critical at this point time for me.
Looking forward to working with Corel x7

the 1st think you will notice in X7 is the font identification is a little strange from X3. X3 when you go down the fonts, it opens a small window to show what you have on the desktop..in that named font.X7 changes the font on the desktop.......AND THE FONT DROP DOWN........ is sitting right over what you typed on the desktop.SO YOU CANT SEE what it looks like(((((((( i added another font viewer in the toolbar.....to the right of the original...it helps.

Since I have the text properties "docked" on the right side, the drop down "viewer" ends up in the lower right corner, out of the way of the main part of the work area.

LOL Joe....I don't think anyone uses CorelDraw the way it initially installs. Everyone likes things tweeked to their own liking.
One nice thing about X7 is that while getting used to some of the minor changes, you can set the workspace to "Classic" which puts all the usual commands where you are used to. Then change to X7 default when it feels comfortable.
(Remember Joe, like you, I didn't keep up to date for the last 9 years because I didn't need to.)
