1000 cards, from 4-Over Printing, cost me $24.41 shipped to my door.
But I have to design the cards, make sure the spelling, the color, and the bleed is right and that that all the graphics are within the safe print area. I then have to email the design to the customer two or three times, especially when they change the original information. When approved the file has to be exported in CMYK color, uploaded to the printer's website, the info and specs must be filled out, credit card numbers entered, the image checked online, and the vendor's invoice printed out, the customer's invoice created, taxes filed and paid, and the customer dealt with when they come to pick up their cards.
Is $99.99 (minus $24.41) worth doing all that? Just plain cards with the customer's logo, nothing fancy. Thanks

Good grief Wayne. Jump on this. Charge the customer a design fee everytime he makes a change, keep the original file then be happy on the next order too. Like Dan Antoneli preaches. If you only see them when they need a sign...........that's a long time.

Sounds like you did all the hard work that the customer either don't know how or don't have the skills or resources to turn out the same product- that is why they should come to you in the first place.
Don't EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, E-V-E-R reduce the price because a customer complains- all that does is lower the value of your services- you could offer a discount (small) if he orders postcards (or something similar) along with the order- then they think they are getting a bargin.

I haven't had business cards for the past 25 years...but in my neck of the woods I'm sorta semi-famous for my signs so anyone who is serious knows how to find me...also not having a card goes along with my anti-businessman mentality which I wouldn't recommend unless you have an exceptional partner like I do...I swear if not for Donna keeping the books and the money I would be broke or in jail...or maybe both.

Bob, my customer has balked at $99. They would want me tarred, feathered and run out of town if I quoted $350.
It wouldn't matter so much but this company has been a good customer for over a decade. Now, they've brought their daughter on board as the office manager and that's who is balking at the $99 price. I can't see coming down any further because the price is fair, I charge other customers the same, and it would make it look like I was trying to rip them off to start with.

Hi Saul, We do complete branding. The cost of stationery is included in the cost of the logo identity. When we get people who just need cards... which is rare, they don't always have an issue with it. It's our standard page layout price. But a lot of people think cards are throw aways. We view them as the one thing that represents you in your absence. We mostly do 4-color, but really try to push letterpress and offset if it warrants. At that point, price is going to be quite a bit more.
