I studied the picture a little, then I noticed that the red thing is a welder, not a charger, and this guy's probably under there welding with squinted eyes, no mask. You're right Si, that is dangerous!
As far as the truck being tilted, it might actually be so high that it's at the balancing point, it could go either way. The poles are just to keep it a little this side of that point. Man I declare, why do the other guys always get the really good idea?
How did I figure this out? It takes a redneck to know a redneck!

you can't keep the stupid people from hurting themselves....just think the accidents that happen from doing these types of things are kind of like throwing a little chlorine in the gene pool...
I had another sign co. owner ask me to help him with a installation one evening I knew things were wrong when he wanted to wait for it to be dark(there's a big hint) then he proceded to set up his ladder on top of his work van and wanted me to drive, but slowly along the area that he was applying the graphic to so that he would not have to climb off of the ladder to move it....if he is reading this he will surely remember it and know who he is (I'm not going to give his name but if he wants to he will) ABOUT THE DUMBEST thing I'd ever seen someone do for an installation...but it worked, and then there was this time that same guy rented a lift (guess he didnt have a ladder to setup on top of the van that was long enough...where's big top when we need it) but he dumped the lift with both of us in it...but thatis a whole nother story I'll save it for another time I have to get some work done

Geez, I feel really sad for that guy. He doesn't have any friends to hold the truck up for him, the real redneck way, and had to pull down the posts holding his front porch roof up just to weld his gas tank. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for making fun of him.

Cute....but nobody's that stupid. Whoever did the photoshop job forgot to simulate the flash on the front of the welder and his helmet. I can't even see a helmet. Also, does an arc welder or mig welder have leads that long?

WAYNE (& others)! As a fellow suth'ner I take off - HENCE!!
This is a common occurence 'round these parts. I do not understand why y'all find this so unusual or why you Wayne would even consider this to be a fabrication.
(giggle)
I have also seen the pool thing...it is common during a heavy snake season or for baptisms . . . . but not very many people have new plastic without holes . . . so.... (lol)

My main competitor went to a lumber yard and "borrowed" a 14 foot 2x4(yes, he was too cheap to buy it) put it between 2 posts and him and a helper each went up ladders leaning on the 2x4 with a 4 x 8 sign panel. You guessed it, the 2x4 broke, he broke his arm. He tried to sue his customer, it happened on his property, the lumber yard for "lending" him a defective 2x4, and his lawyer even found the lumber mill that made the 2x4 and named them in the suit. He was after medical bills and pain and suffering. Because of all the different states involved, it had to go to federal court. We need more judges like this guy. He threw the case out and admonished the lawyer for bring a frivolus lawsiut to court. This guy is a dandy. No insurance, will use my designs without thinking twice, uses substandard materials, I could go on all day.

Hate to beat a dead horse, but Wayne's photoshop idea is making more sense.
For one thing, those poles are at a bad angle, just ready to slide out. Also, whatever means he used to jack it up should still be there. I mean, you'd have to go through a lot of work to build supports that high for your jack. You need at least two, probably more. You put your jack on one, then build up the other one, let the vehicle down on the higher one, lower the jack down, put wood under it, jack up, repeat process.
All very time consuming, and you'd need it for going back down. Plus it's a bit reasuring having those extra supports there while working. So there's no reson for removing them.
Unless of course, the thing was lifted with a fork lift or other power equipment. But even then, the forklift operator would have to return to lower the truck. Is he in such a hurry that he can't stick around while you make your weld? Maybe doesn't want to be around for the tank welding.
And who's standing just outside the picture, casting a shadow? In a city that knows how to keep it's secrets, it's time to call Guy Nuor (sp?).

Not to belabor this post any more, but one of my favorite recipients of the Darwin award was the 2 rednecks from Arkansas. They were out frog fishin' and when it was time to go home, the truck wouldn't start. It seems the guy had trouble with the fuses in the past and sure enough the fuse was the culprit again. Lo and behold he was out of fuses, but found a bullet in the glove compartment and putting 2 and 2 together decided to put the bullet in where the fuse was supposed to go and sure enough the bullet allowed the electricity to pass and the truck started up. They went about a 1/4 mile down the rode when the bullet heated up and fired out hitting the other guy in his "jewels."
When they got to the hospital and the story unraveled, all nurses and doctors could hardly keep a straight face, but when the wife came to pick her husband up, she could have cared less about his jewels, she just wanted to know if he caught "them there frogs." Then the place really did go up for grabs.

I did a serach and found the original article Bill was talking about...he has MOST of the details right... Finally, THE WINNER!!!: [Arkansas Democrat Gazette]: Two local men were injured when their pickup truck left the road and struck a tree near Cotton Patch on State Highway 38 early Monday. Woodruff County deputy Dovey Snyder reported the accident shortly after midnight Monday. Thurston Poole, 33, of Des Arc, and Billy Ray Wallis, 38, of Little Rock, were returning to Des Arc after a frog gigging trip On an overcast Sunday night, Poole's pickup truck headlights malfunctioned. The two men concluded that the headlight fuse on the older-model truck had burned out. As a replacement fuse was not available, Wallis noticed that the .22 caliber bullet from his pistol fit perfectly into the fuse box next to the steering-wheel column. Upon inserting the bullet the headlights again began to operate properly, and the two men proceeded on eastbound toward the White River Bridge. After traveling approximately 20 miles, and just before crossing the river, the bullet apparently overheated, discharged, and struck Poole in the testicles. The vehicle swerved sharply right, exiting the pavement, and striking a tree. Poole suffered only minor cuts and abrasions from the accident, but will require extensive surgery to repair the damage to his testicles, which will never operate as intended. Wallis sustained a broken clavicle and was treated and released. "Thank God we weren't on that bridge when Thurston shot his balls off, or we might both be dead," stated Wallis. "I've been a trooper for 10 years in this part of the world, but this is a first for me. I can't believe that those two would admit how this accident happened," said Snyder. Upon being notified of the wreck, Lavinia (Poole's wife) asked how many frogs the boys had caught and did anyone get them from the truck??? (Though Poole and Wallis did not die as a result of their misadventure as normally required by Darwin Award Official Rules, it can be argued that Poole DID, in fact, effectively remove himself from the gene pool.

Ok, to alay doubts, here is the actual image with the gamma lightened in photoshop to pull the details out of the shadow. It appears to be a legit photo to me. So there IS a face mask, but does anyone know where the gas tank is on this model truck? It just could be....

I'm astouded that you too would denounce the legitimacy of this picture . . . . .
I's obvious to me that the 4x4's are caught on the rocky irregular asphalt . . . .I'm sure a coupl'a of his buddies helped him hold it up there 'til he got it propped up good. . . . . yes, they left, but just a beer run at the corner joint . . . . they may are may not come back to help him get it down . . . more than likely he will just join them while it "cools off"......as for Guy Nior . . .unless you see a beautiful girl who was poured into her jeans he is not on site, LOL
As for welding under there?? TRUE FACT: I got my bent muffler pipe cut and a new peice welded in it right on the rack while I watched . . . . area repaired? right behind the gas tank . . . guy does it all the time though . . . . .
. . . .Ayway, the law prolly got that guy for runnin' "too loud" so he just parked it, propped it, unloaded the welder and fixed the muffler right there, LOL . . . . .
. . . . . .I steel cayn't see y'all don't b'leeve this though . . . . . . . . . . lol
