Our logo fits our personality and style and even the "look" of my shop.
Problem is, it doesn't stylistically fit my truck!
Too bad my truck's not black, but I love it and I'm too busy to trade just now.
I'm a bit timid about this project in the first place, because it's a big deal for it to look just right.
So far, this is the best I can come up with.
The girls love it but I've lost my objectivity when I most needed it . I can't seem to give myself an alternative design to choose from other than using a grey/silver instead of our green.
Tell me what you think and give me some suggestions.

here's what i see -- you have a two-tone truck, and you're adding a bunch of little pieces, making a bit complicated.
my suggestion is to create a wide black stripe the length of the truck in vinyl, maybe 12" wide (as wide as you can fit), and apply your bright green graphics on top of it. the black stripe will become a panel to organize the other elements and give them some relationship to one another. the red and silver will then be "background" to the stripe.

I think you're headed in the right direction Penny. I would put your logo on the door, in the green you have here, and move the word signs either after vehicle graphics, or before it. Try them in silver to match the truck, and maybe change the swirls to red to match the maroon. Leave the logo on the door green and see how it all looks. I was gonna do a layout, but couldnt find that font you are using. Good Luck with it!

I wouldn't change the color like you first suggested, that green is cool and different from common truck graphics. Personally I would remove the Z71 decal, the two different styles don't go well together and it makes everything busier yet. Just my humble opinion

I didn't know what to do with the phone number. It still may need the Z71 taken off, like Lotti said. Too many swirls now?
I'm using a gradient fill for the silver color to give it light and shadow, so those elements are not showing up as well as they might in real life. Should "Spyro Graphics" be confined just to the door or go even farther past into the quarter panel even more than I have it? I can cut off the "legs" some on the "p","y" and "g" if I need to to.
I took off in another direction, trying to just go with the truck style and forget my logo. I think I'm unwittingly copying some other sign maker's logo or something, it just looks too familiar!:
If I don't use my logo and do something like this, I don't know how to build my identity , so I'm thrilled with your suggestions to keep it.
And John, I was looking at your web site and may I just say, I want to grow up to be just like you!

I'm liking it alot. The Z71 has to go. I'm a little unsure about where the phone # would look best. To me it looks a bit like an afterthought where it is now.
What I'd consider doing is center Spyro Graphics more with the cab of the truck. Don't even think in terms of where the doors or handle are.
Also, maybe make the words on the box read "Vehicle Graphics & Signs" So they read as one message.
IMO the last layout is great. I'm sure it would turn many heads.
How about putting your website and phone number in a single colour (just a shade darker than the bottom paint colour) in a simple sans serif font in one line below the molding. Just another thought.

I like the last one best too. I think those swirlys would look cool covering the whole side using a shade shift vinyl (where one of the "shades" is close to truck color)

One other thing. No vinyl color I've found is my green. How do I paint the vinyl for the truck. I've used enamel receptive avery and 1 shot for some indoor stuff. I've got an airbrush but was putting off installing my compressor since I'm putting a big one outside and I'm going to get my carpenter back in here to build a cover for it. I've got a friend who does custom auto painting work - airbrushing and stuff, do I need to get him to do it?

Screenprinting ink is ideal for vinyl, and can be mixed to any color you like. You could get someone to cover some vinyl pieces for you with that green. I'm not 100% sure though if it would be better to cut before or after printing. Good luck.

I wanted to follow up by posting a pic of how it turned out. Truck's already dirty....
Thank you all!! I'm getting a lot of attention. You know, you have to be careful not to cut folks off in traffic once your company name is plastered all over your vehicle!

Penny, I think your truck looks great! What color green vinyl did you use? I have used a bright Oracal 751 lime-tree green that looks close. I imagine the florescent green would look great but not last long. Judy
