Hi guys, just thought i'd show yaz a "ute" I did a couple weeks back. Its a 2001 Holden Maloo ute gen 3(utillity) It has 6 speed manual, 5.7 litre aloy chev v8, boyd connington wheels and plenty of get up and go let me tell ya. The "ute" is a Australian creature and a aussie icon. They are made by GMH Holden australia since the first holden in 1948 and before that we just chopped up 'ol A models etc.

Great looking job Rod,How did you do the main body of the lettering, bagging? Use a mask? Looks super!

The car/truck is way cool, man if they made them here I might consider trading in the S-10. Are they rear wheel driven?

G'day George, how are ya? yeah the inside of the lettering is candy purple, then bagged with lighter purple, then I mixed up a cocktail of magenta, clear and lilac purl and blew over the purples, then beveled the purple with white and dk purple, then put a chrome look beveled edge and outlind it in black. Its all basecoat eurothane and cleared I also put a fine reflective inline to the lettering. (tryed posting the night shot but didnt work)
It sorta works at least the guy liked it heheheh.

Yes its rear wheel driven, arnt all "REAL" cars

Cheers!

I bet Mad Max woulda liked driving that truck. Rod, did you use a silver basecoat to begin with for the lettering? that night shot looks pretty cool. Also did you use an intercoat clear before bagging it? Nice job, I like it.

Hi Rick, yes it was all over a "sparkle metalic silver" base and yes I used intercoat between the colours and final cleared it as well.

Cheers!

Brilliant lookin wagon Rod, you should see some of the crap lookin vans we have to drive around in in the UK, european car companies gave up on petrol years ago so its smelly diesels for all,
I drive a Ford Escort van 1.8 diesel do ya know what FORD stands for Fix Or Repair Daily.
Bag of ****e i can fart faster than it goes, mind you its not surprising with petrol around £3.50 a gallon (thats about $9 Aus) and speed cameras every 5 yards I'll soon be taking shanks pony (walking). Great job anyway mate!

ticks, nice lookin ride man!

George, guess what? Holden is the OZ version of GM, and supposedly they are bringing that vehicle to the US in 2004 with the same big motor but under a different name.
