This is a design for a silk flower business. I drew the cartoon, scanned in coreltrace and colored and added background in photoshop. The sign is 4x6 on 3mm Dibond. Digital Print and vinyl.
Whaddaya think?

Very nice Barry, Could you tell me how big was the drawing that you scanned. It looks to me like you drew it with a felt pen, then scanned. I seem to loose a lot of the fine detail when scanned. Then spend a lot of time tightening up ut nodes. John

I actually drew the original sketch in pencil on 8.5x11" paper, then traced it on onionskin with a zig marker (a non-bleeding type of pen that you can get at Hobby Lobby, or on-line. I scanned it in using a Xerox 6400 flatbed scanner at 200 dpi. The secret to a cleaner tracing is using the trace program from CorelDraw x3. It is a fantastic clean tracing utility. I had VERY little node editing to do on this drawing. It could have been tightened up more, especially on the flowers, but for this application it was adequate.

Cool illustration. It appears as though the illustration is disconnected from the copy.... like two seperate entities. Can you do a layout with them as a unit?

Nice Barry, I agree with Pierre. Maybe if you drop the background and use the worm for the "S"? Just a thought.

Typically I try to marry an image with a graphic, and I didn't with this one....I think the worm itself fits pretty well with the text....maybe if I dropped the background panel and turned the whole substrate blue?

I would lose the blue box, and also make "the lil" green like the worm. I dislike white text on a white background. The worm is a cute idea. Love....Jill

I would get rid of the green border and just run the cool "Silk" faded background behind the whole sign. If you stil need a border just use the darker blue.
You may have to change the color of "worm" to red but the bottom text in dark blue should look ok on the fade.
