We (Dreamweaver Studios) wanted to give y'all a taste of just who we are and a little of what we do! In the coming weeks we will post jobs that y'all might enjoy! Please note that our strengths are more into 3-d than "sign painting" but we are fervently trying to change that! We have been strictly wholesale to the industry for the past 6 years therefore the first pic here is of our company vehicle or "show truck"...We have a lot of fun with this...but are wanting to place a very unique graphic on it towards the back and would consider paying for someone's design...oooooh...maybe a contest? OK!...I will pay 200.00 to the person that comes to me with the best design for our truck! I am wanting to incorporate Sign Gold and unfortunately vinyl because I want to avoid painting over the existing scotchprint in case we decide to do something else crazy next year. I want it to compliment the current design (which is our logo) and give us the exposure along with it!
Now all I need to figure out is how to upload the image!...I'll get it on there!
Good Luck! Robert

OK!...now that I have gotten the cotton Picker on here I will explain what I am lookin for...The rear quarter panel of the truck(on both sides) has an airbrush. I want to remove or place vinyl over that area...say like a background color...black?..blue?...something that would blend with the rest of it and compliment it!...Then a real cool way of placing info such as.....
Company Name- Dreamweaver Studios Phone 817-784-8878 and Sign~Graphics and heck whatever else you think of that would be tasteful..yet VERY COOL....we have caused near accidents already for it...now I want to make sure it happens...LOL
I would really like to get this done by February 15th...therefore I will choose the winner on January 30th...I've seen some great stuff....now show me more!

It's kind of you to consider paying one of us if a bunch of us donate our time to come up with unique designs for you to choose from for your company truck. Keep those once in a lifetime offers coming in; we all love them and can think of no better way to feed our families.

I'm glad to see that you think our time and worth for your corporate logo design is valued at $200. as most of us are in the business of designing and not contests... I am sure there will be replies to your image request but to tell you the true I can make more money on my own then entering these. Thanks anyway!

I just logged on and read the replys to my contest suggestion. This may be a bit premature but I guess I was a bit surprised by this last comment (from raven)although from reading the latest hot topic and the numerous replies to it, I guess I should'nt be.
I felt I needed to clarify what it was that I actually was asking for. ALL I want is placement of the company name, phone number, and "sign graphics" on some sort of background using shadow effects etc on the rear quarter panel area as to compliment and not take away from the rest of the image. Our company logo has already been established which is the entire truck image. Someone who is good at this would probably spend 2 hours maximum time on.
I thank you Don for your interest and I have to ponder the thought of someone who finds this to be of no value, why, after 3 days on this site, I am a resident and they are still just a visitor after a full year? Mind boggling...guess their too busy chasing down all that money they are making!
My ulterior motive to this whole project was to meet and get to know folks that share the same artistic ideologies along with the vast knowledge base they have obtained as well as I. I will rethink my direction.

I'm a bit surprised at the responce here too. I think I understand what you guys are trying to say. As professionals, our design time should always be billed. No exceptions? Am I right?
Let's think about this for a minute. How many of us have taken part in Design Cost Workshops here or in the mags without any hint of compensation? Didn't we get together awhile back to design Glenn Taylor a new logo? Isn't it true we submit photos of our work to various Design Contests every year? In truth, only a few win but our designs are used in the contest holders advertising at no cost.
My understanding is that Robert is a signmaker just like the rest of us. All of us have run into a wall design wise from time to time, especially when trying to design something for our own use. What is so bad about asking a fellow Letterhead for some help? If done right, it can even be a great learning experience. If you happen to win the $200, that's just an added perk.
This is really an issue of personal choice. I can understand both sides of the debate here, but this is Letterville and we are all about sharing our knowledge with others. In my opinion, I should not be chastised if I make a decision to donate my time or skills to a fellow Resident.
Robert May I suggest that you design a crest /sheild /badge style logo in your prefered gold lettering incorparating the information you want and perhaps using a nice colour from the wrap for an outline and some of the smaller text Make the whole thing as a self contained dark vinyl patch and stick it on the doors -no where else -perhaps a small one on the tailgate This truck doesnt need anymore trick visual effects just something tasteful to tie it together-and a nice set of wheels
Remember, sometimes less is more just my veiw Terry

Sorry Robert I didn't mean to be so blunt on this matter.
But if you had seem all the posts in the past you will understand the problem with paying for the worth. As a company yourself and you had a walk in customer that told you how much they were willing to pay instead of asking the price of different levels of quality of work, you would start to laugh if the price offered was $50.00 for your best... I like the truck image and would put some heart and soul into the final Lettering of it. But the problem (Here) is that you would say that so and so did this for me as the Company Image and this doesn't say to much to your customer if someone else had to come up with the Design or Idea. Really if you are interested in asking for a Logo Design and such, for others to compete. Then ask for it and their price range! Everone has the opporunity to compete with their worth.. You get to pick and choice your likes in price and graphics..
I can give you my $200.00 worth but I know you will never take it into concept stage..
I also said in my first post that you will get others that will submit to your request and Good Luck to them!
As far as the fact of being a visitor to this board, that matter is between the mayor and myself and has nothing to do with you.
Steve you are right about other help interests as most of the post are for the fun factor only.. How would you design this and how much would you charge?..(Different story)
Does anyone have this ClipArt or LetterStyle they can E-Mail myself is another!
Sorry once again Robert and Good Luck!
Steve I guess that an outside voice sometimes snaps us back to the things we say. (I don't get paid enough!) or (I am worth more than that....) Sorry but thats my belief!

Please note that as a new person to the page, I thought it would be more received and respectful to you and other Letterheads to place some monetary fun to my request for help rather than openly solicit help for no return. You don't know me from adam and I consider all of "our" time to be valuable...therefore I felt it only approriate to approach it from this standpoint and offer it up for fun! My sole intent to become active on this page was to learn and share knowledge. My company has been in the industry for 6 years actively and have been strictly wholesale. Our specialty has been 3-d products...dimensional lettering, sculpture etc. for which I was planning to post so that you could see a little bit about our strengths. All of our clients have their own vinyl making capabilities which have limited us to the dimensional side of things. Our company truck posted did have vinyl on it but to protect our clientele, we only had our name on it...then I decided to at least put our phone number and what we did on it so that people would stop calling to ask...and that brought me to this idea after I spent 3 hours coming up with the layout and having little experience in shadow..gold vinyl, I decided to ask for help and repectfully pay for the assistance rather than assume it.
It sounds like you have been around for a long time but rather than hitting the vinyl layout books, I have attended sculpture design stuff...such as Haliburton school of fine arts which they had to kick me out of because I loved it so much.
I in return apologize for being so darn sensitive...I hope you in return understand my response. Robert

Hey Robert... In reply to what you said earler in this posting... About people still being visitors after so long.. I would just like to say, personally, that I do have a reason... I'm 16 years old, have no income, and in australian, that would be about 100 dollars... Not that I'm trying to weedle out of paying, but I'm broke... all the time. It is good to hear that you are a resident, but please don't throw it in all the people who can't pays, faces. I know that there are a few that just won't pay... but I'm not one of them. Sorry... Just had to say that. I want the chance to justify myself against that comment you made.

Welcome to Letterville. I think the idea you have is a good one! Steve and Don are usually good guys, maybe the winter season has everyone a little cranky. Most the folks here at Letterville are nice enough. You will find a lot of new friends here.
I'm working on an idea for your truck, but I really don't care about the money. And you are wrong about it taking a couple of hours. A good design man can do it 30 minutes. ( thats a joke, it was ment to be funny,)
--------------------------------- Now as for you young lady ( Katie Kookaburra ) you are not old enough to be expected to pay for a residency in Letterville. ( I think Steve and Barb would let you live in Letterville for FREE but don't tell them I told you so! shhhhhh! ( you can't really move in until you are 18 )
---------------------------------------- Hey Steve and Barb, you should give Katie a resicency in Letterville for no cahrge until she turns 18....sort of like a school apartment, but she has to move to a house of her own in a couple of years. What do you think? ( pssst, don't tell her I asked for her....shhhh)

Why not offer $150 in cash, and $50 will go for the winner of the contest to become a resident of Letterville for a year.
If the winner is already a resident, then the $50 goes to pay for another year!

Dave, thanks for the idea... But I don't want any free residency... I'm fine as a visitor, as long as everybody else is fine with that too... I'm just not very happy when somebody says, "Hey, look at me, I'm so good, I'm a resident after 3 days, and you've been here for ages, but you're not" As it was said earlier, that is a matter between the mayor and the visitor in question... That's just a lot of money for me, that I cannot afford... Maybe when I actually HAVE an income, hey And besides... I'm not 18
Ah well, one day I will be able to afford to send 100 dollars australian over to become a resident.... seeya laters alligators!!!

Please don't be discouraged by a VERY rare comment that you think is negative. There are some wonderful, helpful, especially friendly people that are willing to bend over backwards to give out pointers, encouragement, experience & friendship to all who visit Letterhead.com. I would love to take on something like this but I am so busy helping some folks out that are starting their own businesses and cant' afford designers to do their graphics and/or signage. I always take these "contests" as challenges. I myself am not cheap (inexpensive) and well worth my time, but that is when I am working for a client. When it comes to another artist, even if we do different types of art, I consider y'all family and will do what I can to help.
Whenever I was stumped at doing a certain project the Bullboard was always their with someone willing to divulge their "trade secrets" in order to help me get the job done. So don't give up on us.
