Ok me and mark kinda jumped out on our own at the same time. Well he showed his so I'll show mine.
My wife primarily runs the vinyl shop until it can afford me full time so she wanted Magenta in it.
She also wanted it fun and to be produced out of vinyl with maybe 2 or 3 colors.
So here it is. [Group Hug]

Lets see;

Visable - check
Readable - check
Comunicates product or service - check
Memorable - check, with those colours it will be burnt into their retinas for hours
Fun - check

Worx for me.

I think I would make the black outline a wee bit heaver but what do I know.

Hi Blake,
These colours are certainly not my cup of tea, but as far as advertising effect is concerned, like Guy said, it's memorable and it might just work for you.
I would try a slighlty wider white outline separating the two colours (instead of black), it's too hard on the eyes as it is. Plus I think as a logo it needs some background element that holds everything together. That is if you're still in the design stages...

I'm not keen on that G at all- we know that SI*N probably spells sign, but not all others might make the connection so readily. It also doesn't fare well in the squint test for me.

Sorry - looks total amateur. You will never pick up a good corporate account with this look.

I agree with John. Look through some Signcraft magazines. They always have a business card section and sometimes pictures of shop trucks. You should see enough variety in those sign shop logos to give yourself an idea of what direction you want to go. A professional image is important even if your primary jobs are quicky sticky.

Blake, about the only thig that I DO like is the color choices.
Lotti is right about a background element to tie it all up.
I would totally eliminate the black outlines.
Casual fonts are a good thing, but only if they are good-looking to begin with. This may look good for a daycare or something but not for a sign company.
Tighten up your elements and make something stand out, not with loud colors but with a good layout.
This really does look like something someone just doodled up. I threw together an idea for you...couldn't get quite the colors that I wanted, but it still looks fun.
love....Jill

Thanks to everyone who offered their suggestions. I'll keep this concept but use your input to hopefully improve it for the better.

I totally agree with you Blake. That kind of criticism isn't helpul, only cruel. How is this going to help Blake improve and learn? In my opinion this is not the Letterhead way.

Personally I like the second one Blake. I'm also not a favorite of pink, but its getting there. I wish I had time to give ya all the tweaks I would make, but I would (on the second one) drop the grey shadow on sign. Lighten up the blue outline sum. And if you have to keep the pink, pull it out where you have the grey fade fillers on the side of "the and shop". Maybe do the same fade as you have on "Sign" to pull that out . Short of a revamp, thats all I got right now. [I Don t Know]

Good luck. It's all part of the fun! [Big Grin]

I love that design Todd. I'm not real fond of the font for the phone no., but I like how you placed "the" with the scrolls.
