What kind of clear are you talking about? AT-42 EZ Tear R-Tape? I love using it dry only two gripes, it sometimes leaves an imprint of the "cheesecloth" texture it has on cast vinyl and if you use it wet, it sure does leave a gooey mess and sometimes a milky residue on the applied vinyl. Yo Roger, you got anything to clean off that milky goo easy?

Well, my opinion is that of Mark Matyjowski, "get better tape" Though I won't tell you which product I use or have had great consistancy from, I will tell you they have been around the east coast a long time, they don't make vinyl, they're tape comes in varying thicknesses, and 3 different levels of tac.
You don't need "high tac" if you are applying anything over 1", or if you are applying to glass.
You will want "high tac" if you are applying something smaller then 1 " or a very fine line detailed graphic, I use "mid tac thin tape" on almost everything !
I never need "clear tape", even when applying overlays, the thin tape becomes see thru when wet !!
Also, use ONLY fresh tape (the older it is or the more sunlight or air its exposed to the MORE TAC it gains) And don't tape something up more then 2 days in advance(I know, if you can help it)then let it set around in the shop, the tape bonds to the vinyl like they were married!!

I use R-Tape Conform series in med and high tack. It lays flat and doesn't curl. It is really good for those decals which the customer is going to apply for that very reason.
