Some persons feel that my posts and replies are that of a nature to flame another as if I know all the answers. Well in some cases that may be true as I have not only been doing the paint thing for most of my life but doing it with as much thought as I could possibly put through my brain. Theres not much that I've missed in the paint world as I've actually been there since the early fifties and traded off some of those paints for the paints of the future. From lacquers to enamels to acrylics to urethanes I've striped with most all these paints. I have used catalysts in paints since day one, and for those of you who like the soft term " hardeners " and can honestly say, use them with caustion and protection. Heck, I even done lead work before plastic became the mainstream, working in a body shop when I was just entering my teens.
I have always understood that technology makes change and have followed this every step of the way pertaining to what it is that I do that makes my life worth while in my business, as least for me,in what I do.
I'd like you all to know that in order for one to flame me, they have to be way out there and way ahead of what to use for the next substrate. In this case they should have experience and determination to be the best of what they can be, anything else is just second place. When I speak with another person I listen for the first few minutes then the BS stops and work begins.
Tools are another story, and in the past I've made most of my own tools which made my work less troublesome and found some to be of great value while others of no value. Tools are something that can make you money or waste your money, so choose carefully what it is you want to accompolish by buying or building that tool.
Understandable at times, I don't come across as a true Letterhead and simply put, its because I'm not a Letterhead, or a Pinhead, but just a Pothead who gets off on telling it like it is according to the experience I believe I have.

Joey....I think you slammed me a time or two...and I wondered why at the time. I most likely slammed you right back. But having 'met' you on the phone a few times, I find you an extremely sensitive person who knows your stuff. The few times you have called, I laughed my a## off. It just takes awhile to get to know you.

If you're not cultivating your own seed from high source blends that have been three generations acclimated then you're probably smoking something far from the best for your situation. Western slope plantings might be your problem.

Seems to me that when Joey gives answers to questions asked here. It is usally derived from passed experiences pertaining to what is being discussed. This is also why others of us either give or ask questions. To gain the knowledge WITHOUT having to make the mistakes in the school of hard knocks. I have always used oil based paint an will continue to do so! Like Joey,I have many years experience with it,and know what I am doing. Although many will use waterborne paints for the same purpose. I do not think the test of time(durability)has elasped enough to convince me other wise. As far as "Flaming" goes.....that is usally in the mind of the ones on the recieving end.
A Quote from the Bible(yeah that too) A foolish man does not listen to the counsel of others.
Thanks Joey

I agree with Steve Purcell. I have no problem with truthfullness or stating ones strong opinions, I do have a problem with a lack of tactfullness & courtesy to your peers. I am glad you tell us what is on your mind Joey, but a bit of tact isn't a big thing to ask. When someone who you slam is asking a question that you think is stupid, don't assume that they are. They are just trying to tap into your vast knowledge & experience. Someone has to pass the torch and WE look at people like you to show us the way. Maybe a lot of us are just "pups" but we look to the "Big Dogs" for guidance. But constant slamming whether you can back up what you say or not, just isn't right. My 2 cents worth.

Keep track and you will see Joey's post is often the first, the most to the point, completely truthful and presented with the conviction of experience. I have never met Joey and only occasionally exchange e-mails. There is one fact that remains: few have done as much, or placed as much information and personal knowledge up for public scrutiny on this and other bulletinboards and stand behind it all the way. No apologies expected. No apologies accepted.

I would like to apologize but yet cannot find the words which would have a meaning to those who object to what I have to say. The double standards and hangers on, sort of persons who have nothing to contribute but yet have alot to learn take my answers as slamming but forget to mention all they have learned from my posts and replies including my website. Maybe its because they can't accept the way I phrase my answers and figure they could do better. If this is the case, only your experience would humble me and show that I too can be wr, wr, wr, wrong.
In Steve Shortreeds post regards to Bob Hines sand blast booth, I emailed Bob his pal Mr. Fennel and Steve in regards to what I had said. What I said in my reply on the thread was how I felt and if you don't know the difference between a booth and a cabinet then there is nothing anyone can teach you unless of course you returned to school.
To be discriptive on my replies may be a little harsh according to those who disagree with me, but how else would could one reply if simple A,B,C's are what you have a problem understanding.
I will gladly help anyone. I have in the past and will continue to in the future, I don't ask for much in the way of graditude, as a simple thank you is sufficient. If on the other hand, my replys offend you, just look at any post I reply to and honestly tell me that I don't have the experience to go along with my answers. I'm not into politics and don't have a strong diplomatic way about me, but I am direct and to the point and will not be here if I thought we were, for a personality contest.
Have a nice day

Hey Folks...when someone takes the time and effort to help you out....accept it graceously, don't bite the hand that helps you!
Not all of us are gifted, eloquent writers, so sometimes posts will sound gruff! (This excudes the few dirty, low down, nasty posts, that we sometimes see.) So "get a lfe" and quit being so thin skinned!

So what some are saying is that it's not ok for Joey to tell the truth and give an honest answer instead of holding your hand and telling you what you want to hear, but it is ok for you to call him an a***ole, disguise it as being a joke and tell him how to think AND how he should act....

In regards to Joey's comment to the ABC's of discription between"booth and cabinet"... This is exactly what I was trying to address in my past post about:DISCRIPTIVE PHRASES ie Ink is not Paint Graphics are printed Photographs are images Pictures are pictorials etc.etc.etc. This SHOULD be industry wide.NOT typography restrictive. This simple rule would cut to the chase, and not cause any hurt feelings. Timi explained this very subject on his: "Back to the Basics" post
