John Smith has one in March, 22-24. He's almost in Florida, just above Jacksonville. That would be a good one to attend for your first.

Christian,,,, are you wanting to attend a meet or HOST one ?? If you want to host a meet, it is highly advisable that you attend several prior to undertaking such a task.
On the other hand, if you want to attend a meet, it depends on your desire to see a particular part of the country and your budget. Oh, yeah, and the weather plays a big part, too !! Upon attending your first meet, you will come away in awe... rejuvinated, anxious to try new techniques. I saw my first sandblasted sign demonstrated back in 1988 with handcut mask. Then, Mr.Ralph Gaither taught me the principles of handcarving and tool care. The list goes on and on. With each meet I attend, I come away with a renewed sense of worth towards the sign trade and a wealth of knowledge I may never use.
Try to arrange your personal time schedule where you don't have to rush to the meet, rush thru it and rush back home. Go, chill and enjoy !

I'll pitch in if you'll host a meet. I'm on the east coast, but I can help with getting give-aways and the such.

But like John says, get to a meet or two before you jump-right-in. Go to Georgia in March and see what you are in for. A years planning time will give you a lot bigger comfort zone to get everything lined up.

I don't usually, but I agree with OP on this one ... February is a really good time to set up a meet down here. I had a lot of snowbirds down for mine in 2000.

Good luck and keep us posted.
