Check out the new IMac...The old one was "cute", this is cool...It would take a while to get past the "wow" stage with this one. Of course there's good and bad points to all computers, but it looks truly innovative. Especially nice is how the many digital media programs(such as I Photo, a new digital photo suite) are put together. They almost seem natural, logical.

They look cool as heck to me. Guy in my town just bought one. Went over there and checked it out and I was amazed at the speed. Great look too. I have a pc at home right now, but pretty soon, I'll give it to my ten year old son to play with, and get me a G4! I have a G3 at the shop that works flawlessly and fast. Love them Macs!

Yes, John, that's what I meant. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's a marketing gimmick to invoke an emotional response. A mac loyalist is likely to respond differently than someone who prefers form to follow function.

It's apparent Apple hasnt paid any attention to the sales of previous "simplified" machines with no other choice but the LCD Display. They've all pretty much failed.
I personally love LCD's, they're faster, sharper, brighter and will undoubetedly last longer than a tube monitor expecially considering Apple has traditionally had some of the best LCD's in their line-up for years, but is that going to be enough to sell those machines?
They do make a nice looking computer though.. it's just a shame they cant sell any decent numbers on 'em cause they *are* a bit "much" for the average consumer, and there just arent enough MAC aficionados to support Apple's design team.
Apple is kinda biting themselves in the butt though. They introduced the iMAC and touted the abscence of wires and cables everywhere.. now they've reduced computers to a mainboard, hard drive and CD/DVD, requiring that all the other devices be external and thus linked via cables.

The design and form on this machine is very nice. I agree with those that say that isn't enough for me to pay the extra, especially when I have so many options on the pc end as far components and power. Custom cases and such are available for pc users to get unique looks, if that is what you are after.
Mike, I wouldn't be to sure about LCDs being more durable than CRTs. I have been told that that dead areas occur all too frequently in them after a few years. Still the way to go for a monitor though.

You're right about one thing Jim, I am a mac loyalist. Got reason to be. My, and I repeat MY experiences with pcs have been bad. With macs directly the opposite. Just my opinion though.
