Hey Yankee Dan - There's no problem with the computer, just the operator.
Yea, that picture was taken last week at Halloween. Actually it was a LONG time ago - I was 40, had hair, and it was all the same color. I also weighed just a little more than I do now and the beard was one of my "Year 40 Projects". When I turned 40 I did several things that I had never done before - growing a beard was one of them. Actually I was trying to look like the Baby Face - Mike Jackson.
The beard didn't last very long and I also lost 40 pounds. At the time I was working for an electric sign company doing sketches and also heading up the commercial department. Before computers.
The picture Mark posted was some of the original letterheads about a year before the first gathering at Noel Weber's in the summer of '82. Looks like a lineup from America's Most Wanted. From that small group came the Letterheads of today. I think the photo is 1981 or possibly early '82 and was taken in Aspen, Colorado (I think). The original bunch with the exception of Mike (and now my senior moment keeps from remembering his last name).
(Well, if I had read Mark's post better I would have known the date...so it must have been earlier in '81)
Oh, what memories! How things have changed in the last 20 years.

Mark, you have eight names and there are only 7 people in the photo. I know them all except Glen Frey. Can you fill us in on who he was? And where he was?

do i have to spell it out for you Ray?? oh i forgot, you are from Texas, ya'll don't know much about music! (inside joke)
(yea right, some of the best sign painters and songwriters are from the great state of Texas, even though the Eagles are not from Texas, the car they are sitting on is.)

Yes, thanks Rick - it was Mike Reilley. Shortly after the forming of the Letterheads he moved to Amarillo, Texas, but then moved back to Denver, where I believe he is still working.
Sometimes those senior moments are hard to overcome - your mind goes blank. Must have been all those years of cleaning my hands with paint thinner.
The Eagles? Did they ever record anything with Willie Nelson? In Texas you are not really anything important until you do something with Willie.

Wow, Ray. I'm so glad I didn't wait until I turned 40 to lose those 40 pounds. I got it done on by my 31st instead. Can't imagine going another ten years looking like that!! (Haha Ray)
I'm looking for a radical new earring, in case 31 represents my mid-life crisis (why wait until later!). Or maybe I'll get my tongue pierced.
Never put off today....
I hear the Ginseng is good for those memory problems!

In my humble opinion that can only be the one and only Chester Cunningham. One of the best damn sign men ever to draw a quill!
