Many of you have heard me talk of my Wednesday night get together. Here is a photo of our latest project. The photo is crappy but all I have. We started with thumb nail sketches and went onto a full size drawing. We then pounced and hand painted everything. No computers, no vinyl. The four involved were myself, Brian "Spider" Papa, Ronnie Dion, John Hancock. The word Holland is chiseled but you can't tell in the photo.

OK OK ....I'll bite Rob...Why is the lettering in the pictorial backwards?
Other than the need for a mirror for that part the whole thing looks great!

the first thing that came to mind when i saw the lettering was that it is to indicate a bakery window (lettered) I'd rather be on the side he's on, all the food is grabable hehehe!
Rob! Beautiful job there! I sure wish I was close enough to join your wednesday night get togethers. Since I am not, I figured, why not have "nights" of my own!?!
I have been having folks over on friday nights to air brush! If you're interested, I can send pics of what we did the other night. They aren't finished but we're working on several things at once. I'll try to remember to pick up more batteries for the camera as we go along!
I'm tickled to pieces to see you guys getting together, come what may, to keep the craft alive!

One thing I like about the vinyl era...no more painting backwards!
Used to be, most of the windows I did were inside jobs, to avoid vandalism. I painted backwards so much I had to think for a second when I wrote a check at the grocery store, to make sure I was gonna be goin in the right direction...hehehe.
The real test was to do this one window for a NY bagel merchant. His logo was a bagel guy. His body was to look like a real bagel with the appendages added. Since I was inside the glass, I had to start with the seeds, and add the remaining paint, while running in and out to make sure I hadn't smeared the previous coat with the next one. Rumour had it, this guy was gonna say he didn't like it and not pay me, no matter what I did. The pressure was on.
I got paid and was given a tip and a bag of bagels! He said he loved it! Even called his wife to come see before I left and she hugged me! I have an old polaroid shot of it somewhere. I'll have to dig it out and slap it on the portfolio page one day!
