Anyone experienced this Just been painting a shop facia ply panels- coated chrome yellow enamel with a lime green blend down to half the depth then sealed it with a coat of one shot acrylic laquer ,next day painted the lettering, yellow again but with magenta airbrushed wet on wet to top of letters gone to clean up overspray with white spirit before outlining and wo, seems the laquer goes soft when its wiped even with a damp spirit cloth ..is this normal

Terry...if its lacquer,it will get soft b/c lacquer has no chemical resistance to speak of and it always wants to go back to it's original state so wiping it with anything will cause it to soften up and sometimes stain...if its the 1shot UV clear,i belive that stuff is like frog juice and will not fully cure for about 30 days or so so wiping solvent across it will give you problems like that

Call me old fashioned but you wouldn't get the same problems using a quick drying oilbased clear varnish.I'm still not convinced abour water based paints either, from from my experience they may be quick drying but they have a long way to go with the flow properties, and they don't put anything into the wood like oil based.
