Weather? Vinyl? Heat? Humidity? I have tried 3 types of transfer tapes. It is taking a hour to tranfer a 24 x 30 with 1.5 inch letters. I have cleaned vinyl, tried to slightly etch it with a paper towel, etc. Thanks for any help. Bronzeo

Dave, R-tape, Main-perfectroll, and another clearer type sent out by Roland on the transfer tapes. This is MACTac-MACcal vinyl, which I have used quite a bit of this last year. The transfer tapes just seems to have lost their grab, maybe because of the heat. Jack ......p.s. the weeding went rather smooth..

Here are a few things for you to try/think about.
Over the years I have had vinyl that won't release due to not enough coating on the backing paper (it makes it weed great though due to the fact that it sticks so good to the paper).
Try flipping the vinyl over, squeegee it and remove the backing paper instead of taking the vinyl and t-tape off.
Use a laminate roller intead of a squeegee, this will get you more pressure to the t-tape. These cost about $12 at your local home improvement store and are really handy to have around.
I don't know if any of these will help but over the last 17 years they have helped me out a time or two.

Thanks Bob, but I think Jacks problem is the earlier stage"befor vinyl is applied". Sounds more like he needs more tac from trans tape(which will happen naturally with age) or buy "high tac" tape to begin with.
The other thing that helps is "squeeging tape onto vinyl" with a lot of preasure, also, keep vinyl "clean" or clean it with Rapid Tac app. fluid first,(that really shouldn't be necc.) The rule of thumb is; LOW TAC for large vinyl
MID TAC for average vinyl size
HIGH TAC for small vinyl size(don't use HIGH TAC for glass applications). Use LOW or MID TAC for glass applications.

This is what happens more often than they'd like to admit. The carrier (liner) is made with a clay content. If a run of carrier is formulated with too high a clay content, the adhesive has a more agressive bond to the carrier. It is also the reason the carrier will cometimes come away with the adhesive when trying to remove cut copy from the carrier for application. THis is most likely the culprit, not anything you're doing. Call the mfg. Mac Tac has a rep for this happening.

Jack, I had this problem for the first time last month. I was doing some window logos with the etched glass vinyl. These logos were to be sent out of state and had to be "user friendly". After cutting 20 logos and weeding them, and transfer taping them, i found this problem. I found if you very lightly spray the vinyl with FrogJuice it will transfer and release. Who would have known!

Have the taped letters been lying in the sun at all? even for a few minutes? I've had this same problem using Rtape conform. If we set the letters down for a few minutes in direct sunlight, they did not wanna lift from the liner. Switched back to transferrite for anything that was gonna head outdoors.....no problems yet.
