Before I toss out my Canon 620 printer I thought I would see if any body knows the fix. I keep getting "set paper thickness" error message. Setting the levers does nothing, support is long over, the affordability of a new printer rules out paying for support. Just trying to find someone familiar with the problem before I go adding to the local landfil.

Don't throw it in a landfill George, use it as a target for your potato gun!

I agree with Joey. Shoot it and put it out of its misery. I've had two of those things. If they lasted 18 months, I was lucky. My last one gave me the same message all the time. I was told that the board was going bad.

That printer cost me $525. Today, I can buy one that is faster and with a better print quality for a third of paid for my old Canons.

I've had several printers George, including a canon, compaq, and Hewlett Packards. The HP printers are the best I've used. Shoot that dang thing and go get a hp. I just bought a new one with usb connection for my g3, and the dang thing prints almost laser quality. And was only 129 bucks!

Before you shoot it or toss it you might want to clean the feed tires, and see if it helps. I have an HP now, and I do like it better, but the guy I gave my canon to cleaned the tires and it still works great. It gave the same error message. He wiped the feed tires with a cotton swab with alcohol. Could be something to try, unless you are just ready for a newer, faster, clearer print.
