I have a Visioneer 8600 scanner and use paper port to scan with. Whenever I scan, I save the drawing as a "pcx" format to use with CorelTrace (version 9). I then export the trace into an EPS format and use CorelDraw 9 to export into a DXF format to used with VinylCad. The drawings lose alot of detail and become jagged. Is there a better way to go from scan to DXF format in CorelDraw 9 (or even CorelDraw 4)? I have even tried to save the original work in a TIF format...same results....

Depending on the quality of the original art and the size it is scanned at and also it's resolution you will need to 'edit' the trace. Once you have it scanned and traced you will have to manually straighten lines, smooth curves, prep corners and remove excess nodes.
You'll never get a 'scan-to-cut' unless you are cutting at a smaller size than the original art,,,and the original art does not contain a lot of small details.
