I've followed previous posts on other local tax rates and systems with interest, especially since a complete change in our tax system this financial year. Because we have moved over to a Goods and Services Tax my method of quoting requires me to work out my costs and margin etc and add 10% GST, fairly straightforward since I don't (haven't yet) do any tax exempt work or other types of work which might throw a spanner into the book keeping works. On the previous system which used a wholesale sales tax and other methods of tax collection, quotes sometimes had to be calculated with a rate of X% on one particular portion of a project, another rate for another facet of the job and so on. The short version of the question now is, how do you calculate your quotes to satisfy your tax system? Do you have local and federal obligations to satisfy? Curious in Qld., David
