I've always heard alot of you talk about Frog Juice so that is what I was going to use, but it isn't easy finding it for me. My supplier R&J Sign Supply in St. Louis carries the One Shot UV clear.
Is there any "big" difference between the two that I shouldn't order the One Shot from my current supplier. "I've also mentioned to them again about being a sponsor here"
Just want to make sure I don't screw up alot of work down the road.
Thanks for all you help again,
Chuck Gallagher

I'll give the One Shot clear a thumbs up.
The only thing I can remember is that it didn't dry as fast, but other than that, I never had any problems with it.
I mostly used it on vinyl, let it dry, then do fades, etc with Krylon. I never had a problem with the paint lifting with the transfer tape.
My supplier carried it, so it was really easy to get and the price wasn't bad either.

I haven't noticed any difference between them. They even smell the same to me. Go with what you can get. One Shot clear gets 2 thumbs up from me.

Chuck, yes, go with Krylon first (old formula, make sure it has MEK in it. The warning says caution, contains ketones. Some one reported on this board that the new Krylon has a different formula) Then clear over top. Another option is to UV clear the vinyl first then One Shot paint.

Chemically the two products are made of the same resin type. As to MEK, that is being discontiued in most paint products and is being replaced by a more environmentally friendly solvent be it slightly slower drying.

Ever hear of Pelucid? Not even in the same world as the other two. Letterheads that HAVE used it will tell you.

You beat me to it Pierre. We hear nothing but good about Pelucid. Rick Sacks was giving it a workout when we visited his shop last month.
There's also a new clear product on the market. It's called Sp5. You'll find them, along with Pelucid and One Shot on The Letterville Merchant Page at www.letterhead.com/suppliers/

Thanks for the replies and no I haven't heard of Sp5 and Pelucid. What's the story on these two compared to the other two.
Thanks again,
Chuck

When I had my shop, it was in a rural area, so I didn't have many places to go buying paint and stuff. I have used both Krylons, and haven't heard of any problems with the newer stuff that I used on anything.
I usually just sprayed the vinyl lightly, let it dry, then did the fades, etc. If is was a simply light coat fade, that's all I did.
If it was more like a textured thing, or more detailed (like bagged or woodgrain), I hit it again with the clear, mostly because I wanted to make sure nothing got pulled off with the transfer tape. And sometimes, before pulling off the tape (if it was the paper stuff, not the clear) I hit the tape with Rapid-Tac, let it set for a few seconds, then pulled off the tape. Never had a problem with paint coming off.
I happened to like the One Shot clear spray because it was easy to get thru my supplier and really handy to use.
Does Pelucid come in a spray can? It's just so much easier and quicker to use... and no clean up.
Geez... I can't wait til I get all my sign stuff set up again... sure do miss it. The SPCA sure smells different than a sign shop!!

Sorry, guys. I asked the plant about spray cans and they told me what I suspected. It cures in the nozzle. I mean REALLY cures. They already explored that possibility. You can read all about it on my website at www.stmariegraphics.com or go directly to www.por15.com. My website has some inside info on it. Call me on my toll free line if you need to discuss the applications. Great schtuff.
