hangin right on the wall of this guys auto shop - an original Bob McCoy panel. Notice the real fox tail hanging off the rear. Here's a little info from George Perkins - an e-mail he sent me about Bob McCoy "From what I remember of the article ( Rod & Custom I believe ) Bob does a lot of this stuff nowadays. I also think he does some in 3-D. Unless my memory is really bad, he also does some teriffic miniture race car stuff, midgets, sprints, indy cars from the fifties 1/4 scale or larger, bout 2-3 feet long. I never saw him get much recognition as a sign painter, don't know if he striped or not and don't know how good of a driver he was, but the flamed Forty sedan he built in the fifties made a list of the top ten influential hot rods." Hope ya don't mind, George, but a little history makes it even more interesting. Bomba-Dear

As a youngster growing up in Southern Calif. in the 60's,I was fortunate to watch Bob McCoy race sprint cars. He was also an accomplished cartoonist and sign painter doing numbers and lettering on many cars of the era. In 1963, he did a couple of cartoons of Allen Heath (a one armed driver and a rival of Bob's),for my brother and me. Bob was a huge inspiration for my artwork career as well as my racing career. As of a few years ago when I last saw him he was living in the El Cajon, Ca area, and still doing his artwork. Bob was a pretty good driver, but a couple of really scary looking accidents in the late 60's shortened his otherwise brilliant driving career.
