I just semi-finished my new website and it's open for critique. It isn't a fast loader, as it's loaded with graphics, but I hope you like the layout and content. I am only just starting the sign portions of the page which load as a seperate link, and have only just begun with it, as photos of this winter just don't get it, along with I have only completed a few other signs in my first year. I haven't seen this exact layout, and I don't know how it will load in different browsers. It was built with Dreamweaver software, without a lot of their bells and whisles. Some older browsers may require side scrolling. I hope not. A couple of the links are dead for now, but will be repaired. Their are links to the sign page, our art foundry tour, and others. The foundry tour is an older page, but very informative to those who wonder how bronze sculptures are produced.... thanks for viewing, Jack http://www.imagemakerart.com

great job! It is very nicely laid out and easy to navigate. I think I went through everything.. only noticed one link (other than the pages that were obviously not up) on your bronzes thumbnails that didn't work. It was the bottom image of the sole panther. I noticed when you click on the signs, it opens up another window and when you click to return to the Images home page it only returns you to the Dude's page. I don't know much about web design, but is it possible to have a button that will shut the opened page and return to the real home page? The work on the pages is outstanding, btw!

Thanks guys and girls. I've had more that a lot of fun learning this program. It has enormous capablities, but the directions were written, by an idiot with a self endulged language. A lot of the most common pitfalls are not even mentioned. Mike, maybe you have found it to be likewise. Nevertheless, I am happy with the outcome, borrow a few redos on graphics, and getting my sign page a little more mature. Thanks for visiting..Jack

Jack, nope I havent found any pitfalls with Dreamweaver but that's just one of my strong points. I learn software very quickly, that's why Im proficient with over 200 major software titles. =)
Dreamweaver lets you take control of your pages unlike FrontPage which actually edits your HTML when you dont want it to. That's the main reason I switched to Dreamweaver.. that, and the fact that FrontPage will generate pages that arent compatible with all browsers as well as adding all kinds of junk code, bloating the page size and slowing downloading of everything.
Another thing to keep in mind.. Dreamweaver is better than using Notepad.exe although sometimes I just cant resist opening notepad and bangin out some quick HTML manually.. =) Also, when you have frontpage extensions on your web server, the extensions cut your available web space in HALF. Ya know those weird "vti_cnf" folders you see in all the folders on your server? (you prolly dont see them if you upload your site with FrontPage).. those are exact copies of the folders on your site.. consuming the same amount of room!! So if your actual site is 10MB in size, it's actually taking 20MB because of those copied folders.
