Our customer - a medical company is looking for a "sleek, clean, expensive looking" sign. They want to have cast metal letters attached to a dark blue panel - 36" x 66". It's just their name and logo.

They want the material to be the actual color of the sign - i.e. blue acrylic panel. They are not interested in painted panels. They suggested acrylic I have been told that 1" acrylic panels only come in clear and black. They need dark blue.

We've checked into PVC board but once again the 3/4" material only comes in white and we would have to laminate a blue panel on top. You will be able to see the different colors and they want the entire thing blue.

No Alumalite because she doesn't want and edge cap.

HELP. We have been racking our brain for a medium that is thick enough and is dark blue. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you.
Diane

If you don't have to light it and in doesn't have to take any abuse, use high density foam.

Have you ever used anodized aluminum or stainless? You can bend it up like a pan face to get the 1" depth. Try "Prismatic" @ 908-241-5640. They have a great line of textured and specialty metals. Good Luck!

Why 1" thick acylic? I'm not at the shop right now but it seems to me I can get thick colored acrylic.

Even so why not use 3/16" or 1/4" and glue a 1" strip around the perimeter. A little filing and polishing and you've got it.

Piece of cake!

Is this going to be a wall mounted sign?
I would guess that with 1"x36'x66' solid plastic plus metal casted letters and logo is going to be heavy..
I myself would talk them into a lighter background substrate with the cast letters..
HD foam or HD partical Board with a autobody finish and clear.
or sintra done the same way..
