We took Saturday off from our work. Well, at least the crew did.
I didn't go to the job site, but rather spent the day 'researching'. Researching is my way of filling up my brain with ideas and inspiration for future projects. It happens constantly as I go about my daily tasks, but a 'day off' is special for I can really get to business!
I spent the day in a variety of ways...
First I went to three book stores and browsed heavily. I got lots of ideas, but only actually bought one book and one periodical. I saw lots of other great books, but it seems they already sit on my book shelves back home (I miss my books too!)
I cruised around Edmonton and soaked in lots of ideas as I looked around me... cool architecture and lots of great signs!
Then I went window shopping in the mall. With 900 businesses there's unlimited opportunity for that here!! And once again I filled my brain with hundreds of ideas for future projects. Store fronts, unique fixtures, lighting ideas, merchandise, disiplays, packaging... everything was a wonderful source of ideas!
And as an exercise I imagined ways I would do the storefronts, signs and displays if I had the chance.
By the end of the day I was re-energized creatively, eager to take on my next project.

I LOVE IT!! The lettering style REALLY looks like winter with that random border. I hope you get to use it lots in the future - no royalties required !!
