I need to quote this and I'm not sure what's the best material to use for the panels.

I've just gotten a sample of Intecel and read some of your discussions about it.

How do you butt the panels together?

We may need to lift them up a bit also.

It's going to be about 15' X 3'.

I won't use intecel for anything. I'd make that from .080 aluminum with aluminum angle framework on the back.
Intecel is just not a effective outdoor product. And I know there are those who swear up and down that it's okay, just be careful when you mount it, blah, blah, blah.
I've tried it several times, and I'm just not happy with it.

Dennis,

Using aluminum, what would you make the swooshies and the panels on the ends from? And how would you attach?

Hi Penny,

I don't have any experience with intecel either, but it was me that posted the post you are referring to. One of the things they noted was that you can't paint it with a dark color or it will warp, so I don't think you could use it. I really like diabond, it is easy to cut and to handle, and it comes in colors now too. Dark blue, red, yellow black and white I believe. I'd look for another supplier that does carry it, or could you buy a few sheets from another signshop?

Actually Penny, why not just good ol' MDO? Just take the time to seal it properly and give it enough coats of paint and it would hold up just fine.

I could, Terry. I would want to use 1/2", right?
Could you tilt the panels off the roof by running a board behind the upper part of the panel?

Penny,
Whether you use MDO, Dibond or any other rigid substrate, you can frame the back with Alum. angle or treated 2x4s, then use Alum. angle brackets mounted to the roof to offset the sign at the correct angle. Use a speed square and a level to figure the angle to set. Also, did not notice your location, but if in north, leave some gap at bottom for ice and snow buildup to drop out.

Penny Im not sure how far from Atlanta you are but Wrisco has all kinds of substrates and I doubt the shipping should be that much to where you are.

Ask for a salesperson by the name of Robert. He is extremely knowledgable and willing to help.
