It was my 37th birthday 3 days ago and I decided that it is time to build my WLA Harley. I drag out my bits and pieces and get ready to start. I've got the bottom rockers, and the nuts for the top springs of a set of forks. (and 4 gallons of olive drab paint) That's it. My Dad has given the motor away. So I'm mounting an urgent appeal to anyone that has WLA parts that they don't need. Can I have them? Please. I'm also looking for an overdrive 4th gear to go into a Servi-Car gearbox to replace the reverse.

Dear Dave, Happy Birthday! I'll be 39 at the end of the month. About 10 or more years ago I painted & striped a WLA for a bloke called Danny O'Hara in Toowoomba. It was army drab green when he got it, and he wanted it black & dark (almost royal) blue with an ivory sort of panel on the tank (plus transfers)- as a police bike, since he was in the police force. I don't know where he went to, but his dad's into vintage cars, and is still in Toowoomba- a Mr O'Hara I suppose. He may have spare parts and be worth a call. There can't be too many O'Hara's in the phone book, and being an O'Hanlon, he might have a soft spot for an Irish surname starting with "O'Ha...." ! Good luck.

David, You have fine taste in birthday gifts!.... We yanks are often jelous of the abundance of vintage Indian and Harley parts on the "island", your climate is wounderful to the old parts and many of my friends have found stashes of well preserved tin "Down Under" I bet "Bushie" knows a few!, check some of the U.S. and Canada forums and maybe you'd have some stuff to trade???.... Happy Birthday! and ride'em don't hide'em
