I have been reading several of the past post about 1 shot paints for signs from you guys. i have a project that came up that needs painted color blends on vinyl. i have not done this before and was looking for the right kind of paint to make this job happen. are 1 shots used for this application also? if not what would the reccomendation be for doing something like this? i will be using 3m electrocut cast vinyl for this project. color blends will be blue to white, white vinyl. red/orange/yellow on yellow vinyl.

Bob..My personal favourite is automotive basecoat/clearcoat. Spraying is required.

Thanks for the information. I will check into it this evening and do a couple of test on some scrap material. I wanted to make sure that whatever i did shoot would not rub off the vinyl or cause some kind of breakdown. Thanks again.

In his book "The Complete Guide To Truck Lettering", Gary D.Steele says after cutting & weeding the letters can be airbrushed or sprayed from a can.He recommends using vinyl or acrylic laquer over high performance vinyl and to "test" first. He says this can be done right on the backing paper.I tried this the other day using Neschen brand intermediate vinyl and an old can of paint I found in my shed.I let it dry for about 4 hrs;applied the transfer tape and stuck it.I made 4 cutouts of the same number on one of them the fade peeled and stayed on the tape. But like I said the can was old, i did't even check if it was enamel, laquer, acrylic etc, the vinyl wasn'thigh perf. and I was in a hurry so I probably didn't give the paint sufficient dry time,I was just "testing".Given all the proper attention I'm sure your results will be better.
