I'm in need of a 2'x8' illuminated sign box, fully wired, ready to go. I've had prices as high as $1450 and as low as $275! Has anybody ever used Sign Cabinets, Inc. or Uniko? Thanks!

Sign Cabinets are awesome. Some of the best built boxes I've seen. It's all I buy. They deliver right to you ready to letter and hang. Great money makers.

How can you sell those if you are not a licensed electrician? You still have to connect the power somehow, right? Or am I missing sales??????

Thanks for the info, Rob.

Amy, I got tired of missing sales and have started to use subcontractors to do the things I can't............like, hang illuminated signs.

Same here. Ditto for Sign Cabinets! Only drawback is that they do not paint. But, that is sometimes better to get done locally anyways. They are only 40 min from my shop. Pat or Tim can help too.
In Michigan you must be licensed to install a lit sign. I have a great relationship with those people, and use them exclusively,(sign installer/electrician). The design still is what sells, but one stop is important for "Joe Customer"

Amy, you can install any lighted cabinet you want to. Just leave the 110v leads capped for the electrician to make the hookup. If the cabinet comes prewired and UL Approved, (which it should) install the sign and let the customer call their electrician. The largest lighted sign in Kalispell is one of ours. The electrician had a junction box next to our leads. All he had to do was screw the wire nuts on and that was it. Lighted sign.

Pierre is right Amy. When I sell a light box I tell the customer to choose an electrician of their own. If not I will hire one and charge them accordingly. Always pay the extra $20 to have it UL listed. Also the extra l$30 for the lifting lugs. They make installs easier.

I can do it for $55. a sq. ft. + shipping and crating. It would include the box , all wired, and the lexan panel. We can do the graphics too if you want. Our boxes are all bent by hand/brake and not alum. extrusions. They are a more solid box. I forgot to say that the signs don't have to be totally square. I am getting ready to have my guy bend one that will be 4x12' but has a 2/3's of a 48" circle on top. We also do Channel letters -all hand bent.

We have been doing lots of lit signs recently. I am half way through a strip mall project of 18 box signs. We can't finish until some other contractors are done painting some steel structures.

Hopefully, Steve you can remember seeing our ScentSations signs right by my shop and can verify we do good work.

I do not want to say that Laura doesn't build a good product, but I have used Sign Cabinets Inc and they build the most durable cabinet I have seen. Yes it is extruded Aluminum, double welded in all corners. This thing will not bend or tweak. I'm telling you they are strong. The last one I bought was 4'x7'x8" The total cost on it was $800 and some change. That comes out to $28.57 a square foot. But laura is correct in saying you will only get one that is square or rectangle.
