Other than the obvious like "Brush's for pinstripers" and "Cutters for Vinyl shops" or both if it fits, what is one of the best purchases you have made ???? Business or personel.
For me it has been an "E-Z Up" type of canopy. I got it at Dicks Sporting Goods for $99.00.
I purchased it for our family boat racing, but have used it for so much more. Today we are having friends over for a pot-luck Bar-B-Que. ( I am smoking my world famous Pork Butts)
Now that I no longer have a shop or a garage for that matter it comes in handy for those small jobs you want to get out of the sun for.
We also used it at Dion Hulsey's meet last year as a registration area. Worked great, I think.
It takes less than 5 mins. to put up and has really come in handy.
What is yours ?????

It's fast... it's fun... and it gives me an excuse to hang out at the beach where I've met lots of friends.
It's also become a good source of business because it's a common thread between me and one of my target markets. My truck works for me in the same way.

Many years ago a customer handed me a hundred dollar bill for a little job and said "Spend it wisely." I kept that bill for several years as I evaluated the longevity of my purchases and considered the wisdom of each. I finally spent it for rock for my driveway.

Hopefully it will be the garage/shop we're meeting with the contractor about Wednesday. To this point, I'd have to say my dremel. There is nothing I can't do with it.
I know it is definately NOT the roto-zip. I will admit the roto-zip has amazed me though... it's amazed me that it hasn't gone flying through a window or smashed against the wall or tied to the bumper and drug down an old dirt road.

Just purchased a bike cart thing that hauls Cody along during bikerides. It's so cool! We are biking up a storm lately on our quiet country roads! I was pulling out of the driveway today after work and met up with my neighbour. He asked how his signs were coming along. GULP!
Also, our dog Jenna. How I adore that girl!
Troy, I'd love to see a pic of what you're talking about.
Chris, what in tarnation is a roto-zip?!? Sounds like something that would come with 5 free steak knives, all for $19.99...

According to the current market value, the $300,000 house I bought 15 months ago has went up almost 150% already not even counting the non-stop home-improvements we've done. I wish I had done this here in Maui 15 years ago!
The roto-zip first entered my consciousness in a manner not unlike a $19.99 steak-knife set. I saw an infomercial of 1 guy with a truckload of tools racing another guy with a rotozip on a bathroom remodel project. The first guy is going through all this tool swapping, making a major operation out of it, & the roto-zip guy has this one tool the size of a flashlight & keeps changing bits useing it to cut ceramic tile, laminated countertops, drywall etc. etc. I hate infomercials. but was probably half-sober in a comfy chair without a remote, because I remember the thing going on & on with this guy using the tool like a mini router with drill bits designed to saw with by plunging it into anything & cutting away.
I guess Chris is not impressed with hers, but I had heard some good reports, so when I got a $900 rush job recently that required an obscure shape to be cut out of a 4x4 sheet of Sintra, I invested $100 on a Roto-zip. After pouncing the design & slipping a damaged piece of sintra underneath as a sacrifical board to bury my blade into, I climbed up on the table & zipped out a quick custom substrate the shape of a blob of wax like a seal on a letter. I could have used a jigsaw, but I like new tools & got out of dragging out the saw horses & turning the piece around & around to keep my blade hanging off to one side of the saw horses.

$60 for an almost-new Yamaha electric guitar AND mini-amp was my best deal ever! The guitar was worth over $250 new and the amp about $100...buddy needed a fix and was selling everything his stepdad owned ( I figured this out on the ride home) while he was at work...

I would have to say my Dremel scroll saw. So help me she runs quieter than my sewing machine! I can move it around from the work shop to the shop inside the house because she runs so smooth that I don't have to bolt her down. Just sits there purring and NEVER vibrates and dances around on the work table.

Doug, I have heard a lot of people have praising the rotozip. I found it very difficult to control. Word of advice: Don't waste the $20 on the circle cutter thing. I guess the old ones were metal. They are now plastic and DO NOT hold their size.

Well....latest great deal would be my overly comfy slip on leather shoes I just bought. They were only 10.00 on sale! Of course they already have paint on them......but so what. You know what your moma used to say....if your feet hurt, your face hurts. Somedays I think a lot of people must have some really sore feet.
But seriously, it would have to be the house. It is finally getting fixed up the way I want it. Plants are a fun investment....every year watching them grow.....
Seems like I get a lot of good deals! I like getting things on sale. Don't like paying full price.

OK, this may be hard to belive, but you know those little rototillers called Mantis? That may be the most impressive piece of equipment I've ever bought. It's just amazing.
The second best thing I ever bought was my 2000 Gibson LeGrande. Its serial number is 0001 which makes it the FIRST Gibson-bar none-ever made in the new millenium. Now the bad (sad) news...It's for sale if any of you guitar-playin' paintbrush swingin' rock & rollers want it. But beware...mucho dinero...Mark

My neighbor has threatened the local politicians, the police and fellow citizens. He has threatened to blow up town hall which I live next to. He pointed a rifle out of his mini-van at the head of the highway department. So I recently purchased a .38 special. Not sure if it was the best pruchase but it may come in handy if this nutcase starts shooting.

Personal - would be the marriage license, best 10 bucks I ever spent.
business - would be an ambient air pump, for supplying breathing air to a full face mask. I do a fair amount of spray painting, lots of nasties. Should save a lung and a few brain cells to boot. That and my skillsaw, which I've used to build my shop, fences, truck box, furniture...it's just like the ever ready battery, it just keeps going and going and....
