Hi people! Ive been at this for the last 26 years but recently just got my home pc. What was I afraid of anyway? Well I'm starting to learn Corel for some of my layouts and would apreciate any tips such as the one from TransLab. Now that's cool! Thanks in advance..... You can view some of my work at www.signspeeweedesigns.com Thanks again from the "new" kid on the block!

Welcome to a real site Pee Wee, alot different from that other one. I just designed a new look logo for my Astrovan using a pencil then scanning it into corel for clean-up. Then adding the lettering and color to figure out what its gonna look like. The finished look can be seen here at Letterville on the Portfolio page.

Hi PeeWee...A simple one that I use constantly. To move an object either horizontally or vertically only, select the object and then move it with the cursor while holding down the Ctrl. key. That locks the object into whatever direction you start to move it.

Hi PeeWee, welcome aboard. Good to have ya! I haven't been as visible lately as usual, just got a lot of life to catch up on too! Speaking of Corel, does anyone know where I can find out how to transfer Corel artwork to Gerber G.A.? Lately, I have been curious as to where to find the info. Not as much time for handpainting as usual and the sketches are important to the customer beforehand. Thanks!

Here's a link to some Corel tips that was posted here a few months back. I've been using Corel for the past 15 years everyday of my life damn near and I'm still finding new ways to work faster and better. I wouldn't trade my Corel for anything.

Deb, don't think you could directly open a CorelDraw file into Gerber until Omega was released. Even with Omega I still find exporting is more reliable than opening direct.
Within Corel convert text to curves and outlines to objects. (From Arrange menu).
Export from Corel to AI file. I’ll assume your GA is set for ‘Vinyl Only’ operation. If you intend digital imaging some of the following may not apply.
From compatibility dropdown, select version 6 or earlier, prefer 88 myself, select PC or MAC, select export text as curves and unselect anything else.
From GA, import AI file. Wireframe will probably appear red or green, not the normal black and will not behave as normal.
To render the wireframe black you need to turn off ‘Fill’ and ‘Stroke’. If you don’t already have the switches on your desktop go: Tools> Options> View> Toolbars and tick both Fill and Stroke options. (This is the Omega route, can’t remember GA exactly but, probably the same or similar).
From this new toolbar, locate ‘Fill’ and ‘Stroke’ icons then click each in turn and switch-off by clicking the first coloured icon from the left (from flyout).
Hope that works
