Life continues to be fun... and challenging too!

We are now back from the great white north... our job in Edmonton went very well. We ended up finishing two and a half weeks ahead of schedule. This was mostly due to hard work and very long hours by our fine crew. Very appreciated on my part. They earned their bonuses and everyone is happy to be back to their normal lives.

On other fronts, I am on the verge or signing on to a very large project which will occupy my business life for the next 18 months. The difference on this job is that I am going in as a designer/consultant with a fixed contract. There is no risk on my part as it is time and skills only... something very strange to me. It also precludes me from other opportunities that may come up in the next year and a half... but I suppose I've always dealt with that albeit on a smaller scale.

The best part is that for the first time in my career I get to work in my own town on a project for a major client.

Its scary and reasuring at the same time. But change is like that in my life.

The project is very exciting, and wildly creative and of massive scale for my experience. I will tell of more specifics as time progresses.

And away we go!

Your answer is only TOO TRUE. The new project I speak of above is a new theme park which is themed totally around CANDY... a very sweet project!

Dan, this is a request for you to post your past project of the Sugar Castle Sculpture for those new to the board. You did a fabulous job and this would be a great time to display it for fun. Do you think you could? Folks, this is nifty!!!
I loved it. You will too I am sure and if you've seen it before, it'll still be a sweet treat.
Btw, Dan, have you checked your blood sugar lately? (lol). Congrats on your new project, keep us posted.

Deb

I'm still not able to figure out how to post pictures on the board... silly me. But here's a link to the page on our website where a pic of the sugar castle is... http://www.giggleridge.com/gigglerd/d_creative_thinking.html The actual castle is on display once again at Minter Country Gardens in Chilliwack.

Our new website is going to be done in a few days (already designed) and so the picture addy will change shortly... I'll change it here when that happens.

It looks like our big project will officially be underway tomorrow morning. Initally we will be three-four months in design/research mode before we break ground. And then the fun starts with a projected opening rushing at us in May/2004.

Gonna be fun!

Having done work at some major theme parks around the world, I understand your excitment. Theme parks are my favorite to work on, the scale of a job can be scary and although 18 months sounds like a lot to work with, it can be eaten up in no time. It's always fun from the planning, graphic schedule part, all the way to the constructon administration. Good luck with it (not that you need it) and have fun!!!
