I have taken the advise of the pros and purchased a sign blank (aluminum both sides with a 1/2" plywood core). Since I generally work with wood, I don't know how to cut this thing. If you have any advice, I'd appreciate it.

plain ol fine tooth paneling saw blade run in reverse (teeth facing backwards) works great.

All of the above except if you have a blade with alot of teeth you don't have to run it in reverse.
THEN, get a deburring tool. It's an inexpensive tool comprised of a handle with a swiveling little hooked blade normally used to take the burr off the inside of copper pipe after cutting. You simply run the tool down the edges. It smooths the sharp edges & burrs right down.
