Hi Heads, this is Mike Lavallee,the National Letterhead meet in Sydney is over. What a blast! I'd just like to send out a Big Thank you to all of you for making us feel so welcome! You are a great bunch of people and it was a great pleasure meeting all of you.
I finally got to meet Gail and Devo, two wonderful people. although I have to warn all of you, if you want to do any magic,card tricks or anything else like that ...STAY AWAY FROM GAIL! I also met Bushie for the first time and his step daughter Vickie, they don't come any better. also I met a couple of Kiwi letterheads who kept the party going with the joke-a-thon at dinner on Saturday! My cheeks still hurt from laughing! On the first day I worked with rod and a couple of other guys on a 20 passenger bus painting some of the local wildlife, then it was straight on to painting panels. I also did a demo on painting realistic fire on a couple of motorcycle tanks for the crew there. upstairs John Jordan and his crew had set up the glass project. while the guys got busy painting those, the rest of us got busy painting anything and everything on some precut guitar shaped panels, too cool! I also got a local surf shop to donate a surfboard for me to paint I painted a shark fin tearing its way across the board. later on in the evenings other letterheads with real musical tallents played and sang for hours, that was awesome! on saturday night John Jordan got the doorprizes going and presented Gail with a lifetime membership to the sign Assn. and gave her this beautiful acrylic engraved award. I was given an awesome hand painted and lettered digerydoo ( a native musical instrument ) that everybody signed! I also met some incredibly tallented airbrush artists there. the panels they did where amazing! it was an honor to paint with them.
If you have the chance to make it to Australia for a meet you won't regret it for a second! it was well worth the long flight over. I'm planning on attending next years meet! Thank you guys for making my first trip to OZ a great one! Also a huge thank you goes out to John Jordan for making this trip possible:) Now, we're going to see some of this beautiful country. Well I'm Home after one hell of a cool weekend. This meet was HUGE right from the start, It ended up taking us 17 hours to get there as the guys we were travelling with (Kev & Heath from Mildura)their car kept breaking down. Each day was very long and ending at 3 or 4am. This really was a great meet as the amount of panels and the quality was awesome. Having Mike and Rhonda was a HUGE bonus and Hope they had as much fun as we did. I cant thank Mike and Rhonda enuff for the fantastic panels they did for me, I was very lucky to get out of there alive and with the panels. It is always great to catch up with all my signie mates from all over this great country and once again i got to meet many more new friends. Well I have to get some work out before Mike gets here so we can "play" then on Tuesday I fly out to Fiji.

Thanks for coming down. It was great to meet you in "Real Life" after all these years on Letterville Chat. Yer sorta shorter in statue than I anticipated, but as big in heart and talent as I ever imagined! Thanks for sharing mate
My daughter Vicki want's to send special thanks to Rhonda for the time she spent showing her how to hand letter "chrome" effects. The panel has pride of place here at home now.
Take care on the rest of your trip. Hope to see you up here before you go. An "Ozzie Experience" is not complete without a visit to Queensland. Cairns next year will be awsome!
Got enough this "stuff" to keep yer going before you leave?

g'day i'm uploading the files for this years meet to the server as i type this, it's almost 4am so i'm obviously still on letterhead time
in the report you will find mention of mike's magic talent (wink) and just a few pics of the real magic he makes... don't give up your day job mate!
like bushie I really do hope Mike & Rhonda can make it up north for a bit before they head back to the cold up-over winter
it is a dream come true to finally meet friends face to face that you've talked with for so long but it's strange too you almost feel like you don't have to rush to say stuff cause there's always tomorrow to catch up on-line i found the same thing when empy came down our way a few years back
unlike ticks I haven't gotten a Mike Jaguar panel to show off in my shed.... YET so i guess i'll just have to keep hopeing to get up-over again and steal one while he's not looking Rhonda will help i'm sure
i talked today to steve and barb... on the telephonie-thingie, you know that strange old fashioned apparatus that hangs on your ear, well anyway, i told steve that he really HAS to bring barb down for a cuppa when we move into our little house next week and i think i may have almost got him convinced that cairns is the place to head for next october
so that means all you up-overs will have to start saving NOW! to make it a family reunion 2003 in Oz
