Anyone interested in comparing servers? I have only had AOL and it goes for approx. $24 per month, with a lot of popups. They have support, but I rarely, if ever use it. From time to time I figure it's worth looking at others, but don't know much about them. Any ideas? I have never seen a comparison of all the servers and their pros and cons- which do you use and why? Cost, efficiency, hassle-free?

I used to be on AOL and I hated it. It shut me down every 10 minutes if I let it, and I'd get 100 or so spams every week. It was $21 then - I'm surprised to see they've upped the price. I'm on earthlink, now, and I think it may be even worse! Super slow and it disconnects often. $21 a month. Very Buggy system. They are good with support, but I need to use it often. Preferences change themselves every once in a while. I have no end of trouble trying to log on and stay on to this very site (the BB) and I suspect earthlink, although it is by far the worst site I visit, in terms of trouble. There are others.

I have a local isp, Easton Online. It runs me $19.95 a month, and I have no problems logging on, or getting knocked off.
They do have the offer for high speed modums, but they are $40 a month, and you have to have their cable service (which I wouldn't mind, I hate Comcast), but I am 20 miles from them, and they don't have cable service out that far. I have checked in to Comcast high speed cable, but they don't offer it in my area (I guess that just means I live in the stix...).

I am looking to switch also. The term that there is ONLY (1)ONE internet seems to spark more competion in the market. NetZero and Juno might be a viable alternative!
(where are those sales lurkers? now that we NEED them) Keeping my eye on this post

We use Aldelphia PowerLink (cable) for our ISP. It runs $80.00/month but it is also linked into our cable TV service which is digital cable. We also use Adelphia for our long distance phone service which is discounted at 7 cents a minute.
Our service is fast, we stay logged on 24/7, and it is reliable. The tech support is great although sometimes they do get backed up a bit.
We really like to be able to have both computers networked so that we are able to be on-line at the same time. I sure wouldn't want to have to go back to the dial-up service we used to have.
We use a dial-up at the shop but we don't do any surfing and only use it for e-mail. That service is provided through a local server, Localnet, and runs us $10.00/month. It does work fairly quickly for a dial-up and is very reliable.
Have a great one!

Maybe its just my area, but I had Juno first and it was bad, bad, bad. Ads everywhere and spam daily, plus got kicked off 3-4 times a night. Could'nt type a long e-mail without losing the connection half way through! 'Got none of that with ATT.
