If anyone in the Hamilton Ontario area is looking to take on an apprentice I would be greatly interested in the opportunity. I'm particularly interested in painted lettering/signs and pinstriping. Thanks also to all the great advise I have gotten from the people on this site. My pinstriping is coming along great(you have to see my furnace, lol.)and I hope to be able to hit some events this year and hopefully meet a bunch of you.

Shane try giving Ron Gibbs a call. He's in the phone book under Gibbs Airbrush-Burlington on Mountainside Drive.I don't think you will find anyone else that has enough work for an apprentice.

You have picked a couple of areas that it would be tough to find much work in. The 3m Trimline types have the automotive pinstriping market sewn up. And they are all laying down vinyl. There are lots of sign shops in Hamilton (and Burlington) but they have pretty much all converted to cut vinyl, digital imaging or screen printing signs.

You might want to go have a chat with Dave Barton who runs Hilltop Signs on the mountain. Dave has been in the sign business since they invented paint burshes. He is about ready to retire. I think he could give you a good profile of where the sign business is in Hamilton.

Here is long shot but you never know. I saw a news clip this week about the sign painter at Honest Eds in TOronto. He paints price point signs for the store 40 hours a week every week. He just might need a helper. I belive his name is Wayne Rauch. It would be a heck of a commute but he is the only guy around I know of making a fulltime living painting letters.

Good luck.
