Hate to admit this, but finally able to sleep in my bed again! Been six weeks sleeping on floor with legs in the seat of a chair to relieve pain.
Next visit to the chiropractor is 6 weeks away, unless my lower back goes out again.
Besides the bone bender, I soak in hot water every morning for 1/2 hour, and then lay on a cold pack for 1/2 hour. When the back really hurt, I was doing the heat/cold routine 2-3 times a day.
I appreciate all that responded and got some good ideas!
Hope all of you don't have any future back problems!
Tks again,

I live in the country and have a line of trees around my 1 1/2 acre. My hot tub is just off the rear deck where no one can see - so I must admit there is no line of cloths to bother with in the A.M., and it is still dark when I get up!
Hey at our age - if it works........
Take care!

I once went to a chiropractor he did a great job, it went like this.
Monday Back hurts like hell go to chiropractor. I lay on a bench and get a massage with a giant vibrator. quote " you will feel better until tomorrow at which point it will hurt again" Paid $30
Tuesday Back hurts again
Wednesday Go back to chiropractor and get a massage with a giant vibrator quote " you'll be fine, come back again when your back hurts" Paid $30
Thursday: Back felt great.
Next time my back hurt I bought a Random orbital Car Buffer ($29) it works great and I can polish the car too.

well si, wont argue about whos got the worst back. but iam right up there!!!! did the back crackers, massage, exercises, gravity boots. and in the end, it still hurts. iam down to 5-6 good hours a day that i can function with out tremendous pain. do motrain all the time, have some VIOXX for the really bad nites. ive talked to people who had back operations, my father was one one of the first(1946) my sisterinlaw had hers done 3 years ago and its back to almost where it was then. most i talk to say they lose mobility, bending over, turning and twisting after the operation. i still have full mobility, can still touch my toes without bending my knees and rotate my shoulders almost 90 degrees from my hips. so ill deal with the pain, i guess untill they(whos they?) come up with something that works.

My first encounter with a bad back was 10 years ago. Was putting a lap top computer in the back seat of my car. Not only felt it slip, but heard a click. Drove myself home and called an Orthopaedic Surgern for an appointment. To my surprise was asked to come right in for evaluation. Had an MRI performed and was told that I had a ruptured disk (L4L5), and should have back surgery performed ASAP. Asked for a 2nd opinion and was told the same thing. Admitted to hospital that night, however I was told the next morning that due to my medical insurance not considering this to be emergency surgery that I would have to be released and go home for 2 weeks to see if it got better.
OUCH! and I do mean OUCH! I could not turn over in bed, let alone get up for a meal or even go to the WC.
When I was admitted for the surgery two weeks later, I was taken in on a gerny on Thurs for the surgery, started therapy on Friday, released on Saturday and was roto-tilling my garden on Weds. May not have been too smart, but I felt great! And even the Doctor indicated that I recovered much faster than most.
Until August of this year, I've had no real problems with my back in ten years. Continued to snow ski, jet ski, scuba dive and just enjoyed life.
10 years later, same doctor - indicated that this time, it did not require surgery, so after 6 weeks of therapy, Chiroprator, hot tub and cold packs, I am feeling great! But I know I have my limitations!
Just got to remember where I set that Margarita ???
Everyone have a great weekend!
By the way, I live near Dover Downs Speedway and plan to stay away from the track and casino this weekend!
