I had wanted to post pics on this board for several years, and just couldn't figure the darn thing out. I knew that I had 10 megs of free webspace from my Earthlink IP account, and that I needed to use an FTP program to get stuff up there, but somehow I couldn't get that thing to cooperate.

What I finally did was email my IP provider's customer service the following message:

"I would like to use my free webspace to upload files to the net. How do I set up my space, and how do I set up an FTP program to do it?"

Anyway, that's what I wrote, and I got back a standard email reply with a simple step by step...and I do mean simple. I was puttin files onto that space in minutes.

The moral to this story is this: You are paying for your "free" webspace from your provider, whether you use it or not. All you need is to download one of the free FTP programs from the net..easy to find and very small programs with short download times...and email your IP customer service a message similar to the one above. AND if you should have any problems, email them again.

I would give step by step info here, but I understand that setting up space varies from IP to IP.

Once you're set up, which takes literally minutes (there's no magic trick to it at all), you can post pics here on the board as easy as opening a file.

Oh, and by the way, you don't have to do any webpage creation whatsoever to post pics here. Just upload to your assigned webspace and the pics are there to use. Simple as that.

Hope this helps somebody here.

Don,

Earthlink has a very easy way to upload your picture to their site with a built in FTP program. You simply type the name of your picture in their FTP window and it sucks a copy of it on to their web site in a twinkle of an eye!

Then all you have to do is link to the picture when you post.

We just got a DSL line so we cancelled our earthlink account. Just look around for the menu that will take you to page that lets you upload pictures. Or ask, and they probably have a search window for helping you find the right topic.

When you link to a picture you have to type in this:
at the end to end the link

good luck and we would like to see your pics.

Monty, are you being funny or did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today? hahahahaha
Hey, don't get mad at me, I want to come to Fred's meet next time around and meet you guys! [Smile]

Dave, I have a website set up already...and was just tryin to help out some of the others that might be interested in posting pics.

Monte, I wasn't talkin to YOU! [Razz] (of all the people I know, you and Alton are the least likely to have the slightest desire to do that stuff...but Alton has a garlic necklace strung over Mary's puter, so I guess that makes you the second least likely)
