Fifty years ago we lettered 18x24's for $4.50. For $80 we did a 4x8. At the end of the year when we counted how many jobs we did and divided it into how much money we took in we could see that our average job was in the $20 range. That helped us understand who our target market was and how much time we could spend with a customer. What do you find your average sale to be these days? I think mine is around $1500, but haven't done the math yet to back that up.

I did that study some years ago and found it quite interesting. I did a quick run of some numbers from 2020 and found out for that year, my average job was $789.00. There were less than three dozen jobs that year... I think 2020 was a bad year for most of us!

Before taxes my average job is about $500 I did pretty good in 2020. People still bought trucks and needed the lettering done.
