How do you all estimate price now ?
The dollar is worth much less than even a couple of years ago
And now there are supply chain issues too !

Well, for me the same. Hourly wage plus materials, rent etc. A good start is kinda based on what auto mechanics are charging by the hour in your area.

Thanks!
Hope you are doing ok .
Do you give them a price when they ask for the sign
Based on how long you estimate it will take
Or do you bill them at the end when it’s all done ?

I do a ton of commercial truck lettering. These guys all know each other. They kinda already know what I charge. Because I have very low overhead, it keeps my prices reasonable. But when I get a guy who needs a quote, I never quote off the top of my head. I might give them a high ballpark, but I always tell them, it's based on complexity of labor and materials.

That seems reasonable!
My friend charges labor at $30 / hour for car repair .
I think his shop bills that at at $60 though .
Which hourly rate did you have in mind ?
I called around too and now they just print this stuff
right on the substrate. Man- all those years spent learning hand lettering …Seem to have come full circle now to where a hand lettered sign is considered a work of art In its own right as it should be- this skill is more unusual now. Design is the sweet spot -There seems to be no glory in production…Although art and skill are often appreciated .

Unfortunately hand lettering per hour doesn't demand the same hourly rate as vinyl. It just takes longer, you sometimes nit pick stuff. But it is satisfying to the artistic soul in us. A little paint and you've created a unique work of art. You put a digital print next to a hand painted lettering job and you see the difference. It's like when people used to hire a live band for a wedding or event. Now they just get DJ's.
