Over a year ago I was asked to design a new office sign...I posted the design here to get an idea about what others would charge and how they would propose building it...I gave an estimate but they never got back to me...I had done 3 big jobs for them before so I let it ride and never billed them for the design time thinking that if they did get another company to use my design they would comply with the permission clause clearly written at the bottom of each drawing...at which time I would bill them for my time...I suspected they got another company to make a cheaper version which is what they did...nobody asked for permission...not the construction company...not the sign company that produced the sign using my idea...anyway I let them off easy...those scoundrels...and have billed them $400...it's not worth it to get too upset at this point in life...it's not good for my biorhythms and some times messes with my regularity...but at least if that happens my bathroom is not under renovation like some people I know.

So sorry, Rusty. It's obvious, by looking at it, that your design was much superior. But, as many have said on here before (including me), "cheap" is the watchword, these days.
And that does look like a "bargain basement" version of the one you proposed.
Well, I hope you get your money out of them, and you don't get your "bowels in an uproar", in the process. They're a good sized outfit, and lots of these types think they can do anything they want, without regard to principles or rules of good business.

See now me, I would drive out there and ask the Boss why he didn't use me and why he stole my design. And then I would say, "That's not nice" Then I would say, "How about at least paying me for my design?" Remember, I'm a Ex Truck stop waitress, I ain't imtimadted by anybody. Plus I love to play with people. And if I was felling adventourous, I'd accidently back over the sign with my truck ,,Oppsie, I got Giego! I could hear it now," That crazy broad ran over my sign!" I wish you didn't live so far Rusty. Very temping,,,,,,,

Rusty, your design is top notch - that cheapo reproduction looks awful. Even if you don't get paid for the design take heart in knowing the owners have to look at that sign for years and wonder why they didn't take the high road.

Alicia has the right idea Rusty, I would have a hard time sleeping knowing I had been taken advantage of. You are entitled for compensation of the design. Too many people get away with this, and they figure if it worked once, it will work again.

well, getin it done.......AGAIN this weekend, iam down and outa commission. cant work when ya fell like KA KA((((( had breakfast bout 9 am SAT. my helper came by, bout 10-10:30 am. we got a couple small things done but i was not feeling good. bout 3 PM stomach hurt, so bad and was effecting my breathing, i took a NITRO. REALLY REALLY HATE THOSE THING!!!!! the after effects of it......A HEAD ACHE like little explosions inside your head. it at least told me this was not heart related. only thing to do is sleep to get a break from the pain. i did.from 4 PM till 10:30pm. felt a little better. had a small glass of o.j. stayed up till 1-1:30 am. back in bed. got up bout 8.....still didnt feel good. stayed up till noon, took a good dump, think that helped))) i know iam full of it ha-ha. back to bed till 7:30pm. got up, had another shot of O.J. went back to bed ...4 AM........ stomach growling!!! 30 hours no food! i did a couple eggs and ham slices....have felt better since...... still not 100%..but gona do some eggs n sasage(8 am tuesday). doctor appointment 20th........
