I believe we are just starting to see what we will be able to do with 3D printing. I think there are some amazing things in the very near future.
I have been involved with new product development and prototype/model making for the past 15 years or so. In my last position, we had a Connex Objet 3D printer that was capable of printing 3 materials (1 rigid, 1 flexible, 1 support structure) at the same time.
I see they have now added the ability to print in color. It is just amazing what these machines will do!

I saw a video on the printed houses, a couple months ago. Pretty incredible.
Just think about the printers we see demo'd....a little deal, sitting on a table, making a "whatever."
How about this huge gantry-thingee, that swings around in a pre-programmed pattern, ejecting CEMENT into a predetermined shape....finishing up with a completed house!!!
And they said it would never catch on......!!!!!!!!!
