I am still a decade away from 80 but I understand the sentiment.
Turning 70 was no big deal for me, I still do everything I did at age 60 just not as fast and that is OK...I have lots more time available to get stuff done now. So if I don't get something done today, tomorrow is soon enough!

George Carlin describes the aging process: Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number ... or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life, even the words sound like a ceremony . . . you become 21!!! It’s all downhill from there. You turn 30. What happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He turned; we had to throw him out. What’s next? Then you're pushing 40. You reach 50 and you make it to 60. So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE IT to 60. You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you hit lunch; you turn 4:30; you reach bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards ..."I was just 92." Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!" May we all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!

Joe, I can only paraphrase Winston Churchill when he said "I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly."
By saying to you..
"I may be ugly Sir, but in the morning I will be ugly and you will still need a bra in order to look pretty!"

I agree that after 80 life is better, now at 86 and a half, I am having the best time of my life. Still dancing, skiing, playing golf and painting. People tell me I look great. What could be better?

I am afraid of some heights (not the scaffold up high) but of compressed areas of seating up at the top level of a baseball game; last week I took my son and his GF Katie to see the White Sox in Chicago to play the Cleveland Indians as my son was born in Ohio and we lived there 15 years...I put my hand out and allowed two of the patrons that I had to cross over for my seat to take my hand and help me stay upright on that narrow piece of cement; I loved that I told them thank you for helping an old lady! It's fun to be 60, as I never asked someone that before.

I turned 77 in June, If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. How long does this arthritis thing last any how? Oh well tomorrow is another day. Peace
