I just picked up an odd sized banner from my supplier-wrong shade of blue. It needs done tomorrow, so I thought I would take it anyway & try painting it. All I have is One Shot Vinyl Primer. Can I coat it with this, then roll on some One Shot or Ronan?
Don't have Tycote that you all talk about. Where can you get it? Can you get it or something like it at Lowes?

I've never used the oneShot vinyl primer, Bobbie; but I would imagine it's OneShot's version of TiCote, which is Chromatic's version of an acrylic primer.
And yes, you should be able to coat it out with Ronan or .....

Okay, somewhere I heard that Tycote is Elmer's glue and water. Although, I think the 1-Shot primer might stick pretty good, BUT, a big BUT, I think you have to wait 24 hours before you can re-coat. It might work faster with spray can paint. Rattle, rattle, spray, spray. That sutff dries really fast. Just watch where you do it at,,,, overspray.

I used to take fine sandpaper and go over the entire banner before applying the tycote or maybe just the paint, Good luck, I learned about the glue tonight great advice!

Tycote seems to be arylic varnish thinned down. It smells the same but I haven't tasted it. Elmer's is polyvinyl resin, would bond but dries perhaps stiffer so I don't know if it will roll up as well. Acrylic is flexible. You can get it at a good paint store too, but only in gallons. Acrylic varnish not the medium as medium never dries hard and is "sticky". I put mine on with a large sponge in swirly motions. I usually do two coats as it creeps like fish eying some times in spots. I never wipe the new banner off so that would maybe fix that little detail. Bobby you can use acrylic floor wax (Future?) from the grocery store in place, but Tycote is stronger. I have used artists acrylic varnish in place but it is more expensive (I just have some from mural work). Jer/Artworx
