A woman at my church teaches ballroom dancing & needs a backdrop made for a recital. She wants to be able to roll it up to use it year after year. It will be painted on. Any suggestions? The measurements are pretty big- 5' high x 27' long.

You could use the old reliable muslim fabric, which we used, back in the days, to paint banners and backdrops....We used to call it "oil cloth".

Bobbie, I have used muslin from RoseBrand.com to paint several backdrops. They have everything you could possibly need in the area of hardware and related stage mechanics.

Curt, I have never done this before. Do you primer the fabric first? Then stretch it out & attach it to paint on it? What kind of paint, a latex type? There are so many fabrics, you used muslin?

P.S.----I have painted on oil cloth or Muslim with poster paint, bulletin paint and with lettering enamel.......No problem at all. The oil cloth that I used, back in the days, had a "smooth" side and a "rough" side.....Please paint on the "smooth" side......You will not like what you see when you paint on the rough side.
