I am posting this for Shelia Ferrell. She has a Roland Camm-1 PNC 1000 plotter. She recently replaced the platen strip and blade on her plotter. Now the edges of the letters are jagged like picture. I am not sure what degree blade is using but she would appreciate any help solving this cutting problem. She is getting behind on her work and needs a solution. Thanks, Judy

She can fix this easily by ajusting the offset of the blade. This can be done in two ways: 1. In the preferences of the plotter self. 2. In the cutting software preferences.
Normally the cutting software preferences override the plotterpreferences, so keep that in mind when number one does not seem to work.

She may also want to check the installation of the platen strip. When the old one is removed it often leaves glue residue. If this isn't removed the strip will sit higher resulting in crappy cuts.

the normal things to check and maintain for these old cutters are as follows,..
1 blade,...replace and clear any debris from inside and outside of blade holder if need be to insure blade swivels freely and is lubricated enough to swivel,...insure blade holder is inserted to knife carriage correctly and is tight enough to not move once machine starts cutting.
2 the cutting strip,...make sure it is well seated when replaced even height from one end to the other,...check with steel rule
3 check knife holder carriage,...remove cover and clean and lubricate extrusion that blade carriage travels on, clean carriage wheels and lube,...check belt attachment screw and tighten or replace if missing
4 clean pinch wheels and grit roller below them,..take a soft brass tooth brush and clean any glue residue from grit rollers and mild solvent w/ rag to clean rubber pinch wheels,..replace if worn flat spots visible
edited to add the cutting problems in the picture look like debris in the knife holder not allowing the blade to swivel and or a loose belt screw on the knife carriage itself,...
