My sister wants me to hand paint letters on her garage door of their repair shop. It looks to me to be some kind of textured vinyl. Will One Shot or Ronan work for this?
Hmmmm.....seems I need to be buying some hardener for my upcoming gilding job, so now that I think of it, will the paint stick better if I add hardener to my Enamel lettering paint?

I have been impressed with Ronan's Vinyl coat. I have yet to find a plastic that it does not stick to. Bobbie it is a clear coating to prep banners with to make them enamel receptive. goes on milky but dries crystal clear. Do not take my word for it do a test.
I have also been very impressed with benjamin moore's waterbased DTM paints. they bond to plastic very well straight out of the can. you'll probably need to double coat especially the darks.

if its "textured" like a wood grain......paint directly on it is gona be a "bitc*"!!!! there is just enough of a texture ...so you cant cut an edge. when you try it the grain/texture will fill in with paint....WHERE YOU DONT WANT PAINT))))

Like Old Paint said ... it won't be a lot of fun!
Ronan's VinyCoat and 1Shot, acrylic latex paint, thinned down vinyl silk screen ink, etc. will work.
I have done many office trailers using a soft fitch ... tedious ... but it can be done! (If the letters are less that 6 inches ... turn around and walk away quickly!)

like i said sonny if its got a woodgrain texture, even with spray it will run in the tiny lines. i think doing vinyl stickers is you best shot, and you really need to clean it and do it in the heat of the day.

Are the letters big or small? Of course bigger is better, but whatever you do I would also recommend using a soft fitch. With a soft fitch on a semi tectured surface you can easily push the paint and have control of any runs. If you have to outline a letter, it might get a little tricky. How old are the doors? For me, cleaning and prepping would be the hardest part.

Never used the 1 shot vinyl coating, Bobbie. But the Ronan has gripped PVC pipe and Vinyl Mats that pad the wall on a basket ball court, for me. I am putting a link to my website with that job on it. It is the one with the EAGLE. The mats were entirely coated with Vinyl Coat then all graphics were painted with 1Shot.

Any one that is proficient with a fitch on masonary or stucco wall and proficient with a lettering quill can cut a edge on a textured surface with out a issue and with good speed, it is all in the experience!

Hey Bobbie, 1Shot vinyl primer works great as does Enam L Koat. Paint will look great. Cheers and post the end result, thanks.
