Today we attended the first Remembrance Day/Veterans Day service in this part of Mexico.
The service was organised by 3 people and was well attended by about 70 American and Canadian folks. It was conducted as any service would be in the USA or Canada. We are hoping it will become an annual event here.
It was quite moving to hear both National Anthems sung. Then Taps, 2 minutes of silence and Reville. The "message" was well composed and delivered.
Even though we choose to live here full time or the majority of time we still want to remember and honour our vets.
Our only regret was the lack of poppies available, but several of us will be phoning our local Legions back home tomorrow to have some poppies available for us to buy next summer so we can bring them down next year to make available.
Remember our Vets! We owe our freedom to them!!!!

LOL Joey....I know there are red poppies in Mexico!!! I also know we grew red poppies in our front flowerbed back in Canada.
(don't know if our's were opium poppies. though I doubt it. DAMN...were we sitting on a goldmine back then??? )
I know that you know I was referring to the immitation ones with the little black button in the center and a pin to hold them on a jacket or shirt!!!
We now have a bunch of those available to us when we return to Canada for the summer.
