Spot on Tim. Theres usually about a gap of a month between these "debates". Should be about three more before Christmas

Believe it or not but All This has been very helpful since it puts me wise to the possible pitfalls ahead. I think it's helpful to hear both sides of the discussion even though it can get a bit heated.
I am thinking of upping my Ram and wiping my machine then reinstalling what I need, I have a 64 bit system and I am happy with Corel X3. My machine was built by a friend and he put a decent processor, two drives with plenty of space, I have an external drive.
I do see computers as a tool that sometimes don't need upgrading but sometimes it is wants versus needs.
thanks to everyone, Mike, Curtis and Kevin has helped to put me in a direction that I think will work out in the long term.

Dale, I started with VMware Fusion because my research showed it to be a little better than Parallels. Three of my PC programs worked well, but Artcamm sculpting tools did not work well at all. I heard the newer upgraded version of Parallels was much improved and had taken the lead over VMware especially in the 3D area. I decided to switch. It didn't solve the 3D tools issue, but I found it to be a little more versatile and so I stayed with it. Since then both platforms have had further upgrades and are probably pretty equal.

Dale, at school we are using vmware to run several different operating systems as we have to use them for educational purposes. I have found it to be very versatile for almost any operating system out there from different versions of windows and windows server to linux and unix builds and servers, even the possibility of mac operating systems. it is being used in web servers currently to utilize its capabilities of creating virtual servers for "cloud computing" increasingly every day. one physical server can create multiple virtual servers with vmware and make the concept of "cloud computing" an actual real possibility. Having never run it on a mac though I cannot offer any opinions to how it works on that particular operating system.I also have noticed that the similarities of the gui shell and that of virtual xp for windpows 7 are almost identical in appearance and use,...go figure
