I've been living in Prescott, Arizona for the past five years and I knew Bob Burns was around here somewhere. I'd think of looking him up from time to time but hadn't gotten around to it. I knew we had met back in the mid 80's at Ed Roth's Rat Fink parties. I have not done a lot of sign work here and am actually just selling my house to move back to the coast. It's been a good adventure in this wild west town and I was actually packing stuff to move when Bob called me up the other day and he told me he liked my work. I told him I appreciated that, coming from a real sign painter and I invited him to lunch. I got an earful of great stories about Von Dutch, Slimbo, Shakey Jake and others I had met a time or two when I was starting out painting signs. I brought along a Rat Fink Roth painted on a paint can to show him and he got a kick out of that. It was good to hang out and connect with someone from the old ways of doing things. Any sign work I do these days is mostly designed on the computer but I will always consider myself a sign painter at heart. Thanks, Bob, if you read this, and I'm glad you didn't wait another couple weeks to call, and I'm sorry I didn't hook up with you sooner.

Where are you moving to Chuck? I almost dropped in for a visit recently heading back to the airport from Sam's, but I would have missed the flight. I was two miles up the road toward Prescott and turned around. Guess next visit will be down south somewhere.
